New tires are SUPER LOUD, WTF?!
New tires are SUPER LOUD, WTF?!
So I bought my car about a month ago and it had the wrong wheels on it. It had the 17s from a 2006 Sport Sedan, and the dealership agreed to order me the correct sized wheels. So anyways, I went last week to get the new wheels and tires and I LOVE how they look. The rims have Goodyear Eagle F1 tires on there which look badass. The problem is that there is RIDICULOUS noise when slowing down from 40 to 0 now. It's incredibly obnoxious, my friend's lifted H2 with like 38" tires aren't this damn loud, no lie. What can i do? I've looked on Consumer Reports and they have the noise rating for these tires as "Good", which is the highest they have any of the tires rated. The 17s had Michelin's on there and the car rode SILENTLY, now it SUCKS ***, it literally RUINED the ambience of the car and I'm really pissed about it. What tires do you guys have? are they loud? does anyone else have these same tires and is or is not experiencing this obnoxious noise? thanks guys.

we call them "Badyears" at my work. Going from michelin to any other brand, you're going to notice an increase in noise. Maybe not to the extent that you are describing though.

Maybe the alignment?
Did it make noise before the wheel change? Are the tires and wheels they gave you brand new or are they used/take-offs? Maybe out of round? I am just spit balling ideas here.
But if all you did was change the wheels and tires and you didn't have the noise before then it has to be something about the change...hmm.
Bump for more ideas.

My next set of tires is going to be Michelins. Most of the cheaper tires I've tried (mainly Kumho, Dunlop) all seem to suffer from noise or get noisy after a few thousand miles. My other pet peeve is a jarring ride. People keep raving about Michelins--I've got to try a pair and see for myself... probably Pilot Sport A/S.
Ya I had Pilot A/S's on my RSX and LOVED them. They're BRAND NEW, I think I'm just gunna bite the bullet and try selling these and getting some Michelin's, I'm just worried they won't be quieter because Consumer Reports gives them both the same rating for noise. Can anyone verify that they're Michelin's aren't crazy loud? Again, this is only when cruising at less than 40MPH and when braking to a stop, they're REALLY loud. Thanks guys. Keep the input coming.
Are the F1's directional tires? They could be mounted on the wrong sides if infact they are unidirectional tires. If you want quality, quiet tires, go for a set of Falken FK452, you will NOT be dissapointed

+1 !!!! for checking the correct direction. I don't have expereince with Falkens. I do have some Nitto Neo Gens waiting to be mounted.
I'll check the tread direction here in about 30 minutes, I'm currently looking into these Falkens. I've heard of people putting the 245s on the back AND front tires, any of you guys done this? Let me know.
Time out!! You bought an '07 at a dealership and it had the wrong wheels? Demand OE wheels and tires, which are the much-discussed Bridgestone Potenza RE050A's. F1 is an incomplete description, as these could be all-season tires. And give this car a good test with the stock hardware before you start messing with unusual tire combinations, my $.02.

I second that. Did you get F1 summer tires or F1 All season? I have F1 all season tires with 10K miles on them and they have been quiet so far. Maybe my alignment is different? I love the tires by the way.
