Tire Choice

The potenzas will probably last another few months but I'm searching for new tires now. I'm debating between two tires, the Falken FK452s and Falken Azenis ST115. The tread wear on the 452s are 300 and the ST115s are 360. So these should hopefully last a bit longer. The ST115s are supposed to be a better performing tire, I just haven't seen many of you guys running them. I've seen lots running the 452s. For those of you running the 452s hows the treadlife and road noise? Lastly, I'm looking to buy online or somewhere that is willing to ship to Washington at least. Where do you guys buy your Falkens? Tirerack doesn't carry Falken unfortunately, so any suggestions would be great. I'm looking strictly at summer tires and don't want all seasons. So if you have any other suggestions that would be awesome. Mainly looking for something that performs and lasts.

Falken FK452

Falken Azenis ST115

Thanks, Brendan

Kuhmo Ecsta SPT, I used them to replace the OEM summer tires on my STi, and they performed similar, and where quieter at 1/2 the price. Will be going to these when my OE tires wear out. Plus they are at tirerack.

I use the Falken 452s and I love them. The tread life is good and they handle and feel great. I never track them though. The road noise seems about equivalent to the potenzas I think. I bought mine at discount tire and I've been happy with that as well.

J Zee Kewl, glad you like them on the G. Where they much different then the stockers? Did you stick with stock 225 width or go up? I am thinking going 245 on my XS's 18's

K initial driving impression after 30km of driving:

Ride quality is stiffer (mind you, I just came from winter tires).
Tires felt very grippy!!
Increased road feel.
Tire noise seems the same from other tires ive owned/used which are eagle RS-A's and Blizzaks on the G.
improved brake response.

And thats all I can say for now. I havent let on it just yet since there seems to be a break-in period.

Hello Ian - tell me about this mold release. I have no idea what that is.

I can only assume its related to the break in period.

The tire person told me that break in period is 50km only? is this it?

Is it just me or is it hard to find tires in the size of the stock rims? I can find fronts but not rears, in some cases the other way around. Did you guys change the tire size when getting new tires? If so, to what size? The Nitto Invos look great as well, $178/tire isn't bad either!

235/50 in front and 255/45 in back works great, and there are many more choices. You hear people running 45 ratio all around, but these sizes look and work great.

I have to replace my two rear tires now because I hit a curb this weekend.

As per the information from different threads, I decided to go with Falken FK452s.

Can any one suggest which is the best place to get these? at Sears there are about $170.

Thanks,
Harsha
