I don't understand how some of you guys can go so long without having to change the pads. My car has gone 15k KILOMETERS!!! and they need replacing very soon.

Would this be down to weather over here? (usually between 27-35c), or is it the way we drive here, 90% of the time I'm at 100-120 kph (62-75 mph)

^ 15K kilometers is less than 10K miles, that's crazy wear and I can't see the weather being the reason for this. And if your driving style isn't constant stop-n-go, then this is something that needs an in-depth looking into.

I am planning to replace my rear brakes with OEM pads at 30 K, at 50/50 city/highway. I do what I can to avoid hitting the brakes unnecessarily, and can't say that I push the car all that often yet they're worn already. The fronts have at least 5K left in them.

Few guesses...

- You're riding on your brakes
- Your calipers are stuck
- You have bad pads
- You're overly aggressive on the brakes

Damn...I have 45K+ miles on my car. There's still A LOT of front pad left. The rears probably have 3-4mm left on them.

I found the OEM pads to wear unevenly. What I mean by this is that one pad wears quicker than the other. While this can sometimes be caused by sticking calipers, this is not the case in my car. The calipers are all in great shape.
The difference is not alarming, but it did cause me to change the pads before I felt it was time.

I hope to have better results with the ceramics I now have installed.

I don't know what a rocking noise is, but I'd start by pulling the wheels and calipers to see what your pads and rotors look like.

What pads did everyone go with and where did you buy them? I see alot of rear pads listed, but not much for front pads. I need to have my rotors turned as well.

I'm getting Carbotech's, they have everything from the Bobcat to the XP12's available for the Sport. I would've gone with the HP Ceramics or HPS, but although there are part numbers, nobody seems to have them in stock.

Worst-case scenario, it's back to OEM for me.

That's exactly what I was running into. Hawk has them listed, but everyone seems to carry the rears only.

I had Carbotech Bobcat's for my previous car, a 2002 Subaru WRX sedan, and they performed much better than the OEM pads without any added noise or dusting...I'm thinking of getting them for this car.

Yeah, at 17k, an inspection at the dealer "included' with a service call, reveals that the Rear Brake pads will need to be replaced at next oil chnage. 4mm left on em now. Never experienced that where the rears wore out before the front pads? Maybe its the Electronic brake Force action

Need a little help with part numbers. Hawk's site shows:
HB600Z.539 Rear
HB599Z.616 Fronts

Tirerack is showing something different. When I called Hawk up they said the part numbers Tirerack quoted were for the G37. Both are stating they have the correct numbers. Who is right?

I believe they both are. If i'm not mistaken, the non-Sport G37 uses the same brake hardware as the G35 Sport.

And if i am, i would go by what Hawk says.

By the way, i forgot, which model do you have? I'm checking Tirerack for an '07 sedan sport and they don't have any fronts listed for Hawk.

I have an '07 sport. Tirerack had to check with their supplier for the fronts, however what they have listed on the site for my cars rears are incorrect as well.
