What happens if your wheels don't have TPMS?

My neighbors have an 08 G35 and were wondering what would happen if they bought snow tires that didn't have TPMS. My neighbor said they wanted $600 or something insane for the TPMS.

I drive a MINI and my snows don't have TPMS. When I start my car it beeps at me and then a light stays lit on the dash, but other than that it's pretty unobtrusive.

Anyway, what's the deal on the G35?

Thanks!

It's not the 'same' as the Mini. There's no audible warning, but your tire pressure indicator light will stay on.

I have winter wheels with no TPMS on my G, and the little yellow light staying on doesn't bother me at all.
