Wanted to check in with other members that installed IMPUL Springs on their 07+ sedans w/o using SPC F&R camber kits and whether you have had any premature inside tire wear issues.

I've had my IMPULs on for about a year now. After the spring install last year I promptly got the car aligned at the dealer and the results were within spec. Unfortunately they didn't give me the actual spec printout of before and after of the alignment so I have a call into them to get that.

I replaced all tires back in October with Falken 452's 255/40/19. I love the tires but have been getting some serious road noise up front. I did a check and found that the inside is severely worn and feathered to the point I have to drop another $350 for new front tires. I have a little over 12k/6 mos. on the old fronts. Rears are wearing even.

The error on my part is I haven't rotated the tires since they were installed. I'm actually glad I didn't because I would be buying all 4 new tires rather than just the fronts and it would have taken longer to notice the wear issues on the front.

I went ahead and ordered the SPC alignment kit from THMotorsports for a good deal on the front and rears and hope to have that next week. I also purchased 2 new 452's that should arrive next week as well. Hopefully after the alignment kit is installed I'll have my front camber fixed and be able to put 20-30k miles on a set of tires. I also plan on doing regular 5k rotations in the future since it's free.

Just looking for input from others with the IMPULs. Even though we were able to get alignments in spec it looks like it's wise to get the front camber kits to prevent the expensive premature tire wear from lowering your car.

I have only hsd the springs on for about 2000 miles and everything is ok so far.

 

If the alignment was in spec, I'm wondering why the tires wore. Did the alignment go off.
Curious to know if it still is in spec before you install the kit.

 

I just got the fax from the dealer with my alignment specs from a year ago. Looks like they got it on the absolute far end of spec on the Fr/R and missed spec by .04 on the Fr/L.

I really need to get the front zero'd out on camber with the SPC kit and that should clear up the tire wear issue.

Lesson learned: Always get your alignment readouts even if they say it's all good.

Front camber wear is pretty bad without a camber kit in the front even with the Eibach Pro-kit. Now that I'm on my JIC coils with even lower height in the front, I get even worse tire wear. I had to flip my tires twice within 12,000 miles of driving. hahaha

BTW, camber specs are as below:

Front: -2.27 R -2.33 L (without camber kits)
Rear: -1.75 R -1.75 L (with camber kits, could set within OE spec if desired.)

 

Wow, your tires must be jacked on the edges. So are you planning on correcting the camber with say an SPC kit or are you running that much negative camber to keep the tires from rubbing the fenders?

 

I can run around -1.2 in the rear without rubbing, but I like a little more camber cuz I like driving hard. hahaha
