I was surprised by how quiet my HTR z III are. That was not something I was specifically looking for, but it was a very nice extra.

other than more tire options on the sizes 235/50 F 255/45 R was there any benefits to upsizing? handling better? steering response?

Also has anyone just replaced they're rear tires and kept the stock potenza's? or did you guys just replaced all 4 at the same time?

mm you have a wider contact patch. So I guess yes, based on size, you will notice more of a difference based on the tire you choose rather then a 10 mm with difference.

Most people burn out the rears quicker. But they replace all 4 to keep a matching set

I thought the best alternate staggered size for the G Sport sedan were 225-50-18 front, 245-45-18 rear.

Those are the stock sizes, try finding a 225/50 18 there are only like 4 choices

x2. They're solid and sticky but IMO not worth the money.

Better handling and traction yes (wider contact patch), steering, no.

As with most any modification to tires, each positive comes with a negative...albeit in this case it'll be negligible. Wider/bigger tires = more rotational mass which will adversely effect acceleration and decrease fuel mileage all else equal.

Same goes with bigger rims normally, except you can also add reduced ride quality to that list of negatives.

I screwed up, I took the wrong size off my notes. I meant to say 235-50-18 front, 255-45-18 rear. That's what I was going for, my brain typed in something else.

All I can say is that the RE050A tires are a really good tire... yes they have a shortened tread life, but that is what you call a performance Tire, They handle great, and if you know how to drive your car right you will get about 30,000 miles out of them like I have, that's including a couple of canyon runs and spirited driving on the freeways... Check your alignment and your tire pressure constantly and your tires last a lot longer! if you can't afford the "maintenance" of owning this car, then why buy the car in the first place!

So what do most people recommend for a replacement size over the stock tires for an XS? What's the most common size I should be looking for? I have 20k on the stock tires and they suck in the handling department and want to replace them soon. Thanks.

Were you looking for A/S or summers???
Myself If I stay with A/S tires I'm looking at the Michelin Pilot A/S plus (alternate size), or Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS (alternate size), or the Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S. But the best scenario would be summer tires and dedicated winters for the snow and ice.

Here's the Tirerack's A/S survey.

30k on RE050's? haha yea I'd love to see that. I have 12500 on my odometer and my rear tires are toast. My fronts are around 60%, but the rears need to be replaced sooner than later.

I had the Run Flat version of these tires on my E90, they lasted around 22k which is pretty outstanding if not miraculous.

Sams Club has the rear tires for our car, you have to special order them but its the cheapest price I have found (around town, i don't like internet ordering tires). $238 at Sams Club, Americas Tire Store wanted $289 per tire. I work near a Bridgestone store so I may go there and price it out. I didn't check the price on the fronts since my fronts have life left on them. I don't complain about the cost to replace tires, I know what it costs to upkeep a performance car. Honestly the two things I never skimp on are tires and brakes, safety and performance.

30k, yea... maybe if you drive like James May AKA "Captain Slow"

You can probably make them last longer without driving like "Captain Slow". Just use a light foot when accelerating from a stop.
