HAHAHA...bust out the ladder!

but on a serious note to you guys (Scott/Wes)... I had the same feelings as you about dropping, both with my Camry and then the G. I waited almost a year myself on the Camry, bombarding the forums with should I-shouldn't I threads. I would rant and rave on how stupid the designers are how they made such a huge wheel gap and envy bimmers every time I saw them on the road with their stock lowered stance. The excuses I'd make to myself were getting old. And on that note, even if they finally do make coil overs for the X, the next excuse will be how expensive they are.

And then...I said "F### IT". I couldn't stand always looking back at my car and saying damn that $hit needs a drop. It was a waste of time even debating it. Face it, no matter how much you fight it, you're ALWAYS going to want to see your car dropped, so do yourselves a favour, don't let 3+ years go by before you figure it out.

Live High - Ride Low boys!

I'm setting all my ducks in a row and if this thread doesn't show some real potential when I'm done, the Eibachs are being ordered.
I need to line up someone to do the install for me without robbing me blind. I've never installed springs before and although it's a fairly easy installation, I'm not flying solo on my first install. I then need to find a shop to do an alignment that I can actually trust. This is not as easy as it sounds, and most shops hire hacks, thieves and morons. Hacks, thieves and morons are not allowed near my car.

I'm still a little worried about clearance in the winter, but F it... I'm done with this hideous gap. I have a very steep driveway and when the drive meets the roads, there's something like a speedbump there to keep rain from pouring down my driveway from the street. This is gonna be tricky to clear once dropped, but I know I'll just have to figure out a new approach angle (or pay the driveway guy to come out and think up a new solution)
I also touch snow in the winter as it is. Another inch and I'm no longer touching.. I'm plowing! I'm taking the irrisponsible approch here and throwing caution to the wind. If everyone else is doing, why shouldn't I?!?

Wes... I thought the ladder joke was actually quite clever and funny. How did that one slip by you?

Scott - I think the reason why I didnt get that ladder joke is cuz.... im in denial. haha Good luck finding a good place to do the install. Im sure you will.

Well its pretty certain now at this point that I am gonna drop.. its just a matter of time now. You guys got me to that point.

You guys are bad...you guys got me PM'ing vendors now for rims with the right offsets to prepare for a drop... :S uggh....

I'm not too worried about offsets right now. I'd rather roll with a slightly tucked look than with that nasty looking front gap.
I'm +35 but honestly, after the drop, I may throw some 10MM on the rears.
We'll see.

So, if we cant wait for CO's.....besides springs and an alignment, do we need to do anything else? i.e. camber. IDK much about this stuff but I would want it done right. I do know we can't have our AWD tires wear unevenly or there can be other serious issues.

Excellent, happy to hear it!
You pretty much said it all there when you talk about approach angle, that's really the only issue when driving lowered...try hitting everything at 45 degree angles.
As for plowing snow...yeah sort of, we have this kind of plastic skid plate under the front bumper that protects the internals. it reminds me of a tobaggon (sled). any plowing or glacier crushing goes on under there.
And as for installs, $200 to $300 range for install should be your target. Mine were done for $150 (guy's bankrupt now)... but this is a target price. just don't let the dealer do it, they'll rape you on springs. good luck on finding someone

i'm trying man, i'm really, really trying!

Your wheels will look awesome once dropped, i love those wheels! nothing some decent spacers can't fix anyways. my offsets on mine are +40 (8" wide/ 19"rim) and i think they sit perfect...so you're talking max 10-20mm, no problems! nothing that i'd lose sleep on.

now that i think of it, i don't remember them being that tucked (definitely not hideous).

With 50 offset you need spacers to be flush.
