Yet Another Falken FK-452 Quesion.. Chime in Falken owners!!

Hey guys - Is it just me.. or the "road feel" of these tires are so good that its bordering the feeling of "wheel vibration" at times? (depending on the road of course)

But in fact, its just good road feel is what your... feeling. lol

Makes sense? let me know. Cuz I had my rims/tires road forced balanced. I highly doubt its off balanced tires. Cuz it doesnt happen all the time. I suspect its just overly sensitive to the imperfections of the road.

This is also my first set of 19's and summer tires. So I have nothing to compare it too.

Thanks guys.

It really varies Johnny... sometimes I feel it around 100-120km/hr but sometimes I dont.

But generally, if over 130km/hr, its all good.

what do you think?

Did you go from a 17 or 18 inch wheel/tire setup to the 19 inch setup? If so then your sidewall height decreased significantly, thus reducing the ability for your tires to dampen vibration. I could tell a difference going from the 40 series fronts to a 35 series front.

I know this is a sedan thread but i do have these tires on my coupe. I went from the OEM 19's to 20's with 245/35/20 and 285/30/20 and i noticed alot more of what your describing.

One of my rims is slightly bent so i always thought that maybe that was the vibration, but it always goes away when im on a nice freshly paved road. So i have to agree and say that i do feel alot more of the "road" with these tires, but they are some of the best tires i have ever gotten for dry&wet traction, so i will gladly deal with the road noise and keep the great performance.

I think any time you go to a lower sidewall and a high performance tire, you are going to pick up more "feel" from the road. The Falken's seem to pick up a little more than some, but honestly most lower priced summer tires do. I have had 7-8 different summer tires, and the Falken's are on par with most of the others in this regard.

i have 452's and they are junk. bridgestone or michillin. the falken's have very little traction and wear out fast too. I went through 3 alignments in a year and they still wore out in 10k miles.

I'm glad i moved past them.

K thanks guys. This helps a lot. Its what I suspected then.

Coming from stock 17's to 19's with summer is definately a huge difference in terms of road feel and all.

How did u guys get 4700 or 10K miles out of these tires?!

Im going on about 10,000 miles on these tires now and the fronts are still VERY meaty and the rears are pretty meaty but getting worn down a bit (wonder why....) and i drive the car pretty aggressively.

I am assuming it was the way I drive, and alignment related. I had an alignment done the day before I put them on, but when I checked it again the toe was at about 0.3-0.4 (it was at 0.09 when I got the alignment done). It was only my rears that wore out at 4700 miles. The fronts (with a lot more neg. camber) still look pretty good at 7000 miles.

I don't drive real aggressive, so I am assuming it had more to do with the alignment. I am just not sure when/how the tow changed so much. Toe is what really eats up tires, but I am not sure what changed in the toe setting over the 4 months I had them on.... Regardless, they weren't my favorite tires, but not as awful as I made them seem in my post about this. I still don't think I would go with them again. I am personally back to running BFG KDW's again, and I like them better than the Falken's. They are loud, but are good all around tires. I would rather go with one of the two tires I mention below, but Discount Tire did not offer either, and they gave me a huge discount when my Falken's wore out so fast.

I would recommend checking out tirerack for reviews, and this is a good article to read: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...mparison_tests

They like the Hankook Ventus V12 for an inexpensive tire. I have also heard great things about the Bridgestone RE760, and both are in the same price range as the Falken FK-452's. All evidence and tests I can find point to them both being better than the FK-452's.

I've gotten about 15K out of mine so far and I don't see any reason to replace them before next summer.
I admit that the "road feel" has increased slightly and the noise.... oh, the noise.... but other that them getting louder, they still stick like crazy glue.

These are NOT bad tires, especially considering the price.

You are doing something wrong! I have three High Performance Driving Events on mine and about 12k on them and I'm not even down to my first level of wear indicators on the rear. The fronts are about 70% too. Grip on mine is very good, both wet and dry.

I have over 6k on mine so far, and they look hardly worn. I'm a VERY aggressive driver and I'm sure I drive harder than 99% of you on here

I'm sure te low mileage was related to alignment and not the tire itself
