Hey Wes...
Sorry but I couldn't work it out to get into Simones.
I had truck problems on the weekend & the G was already 'under construction'
I had to get her finished & back on the road.

I was thinking about it during the install though....

The 6 point is so far back on the car that,
I can't think of anything on the X that would cause a problem.
I'm sure the X must have the chassis hole where the threaded insert goes.
I can't see that they would use a different stamping for the X.
You should be able to compare your car to the pics.
The rest of the suspension points etc is the same for sure.

I still have my Akebono brakes to install next week,
I'll take some measurements for you then & put a detail drawing together.

BTW, noticed your custom wood jackstand pad. You are definitely legit!!!
The M attaches at the 'toe' adjust cam.
I was a little concerned about the same thing as you , but it was pretty straight forward.

You don't have to take the cam apart.
You only have to take the nut off, the brace sits on top of the cam.
I'm sure I didn't get it exactly the same as it was,
but if you are careful to put a couple (more than one) of markings where you can see then,
it will be within a whisker of where it was.

I think the 'M' is an important piece because it closes/bridges the back end of the 6 point.
To me the the 6 point & 'M' almost make an 8 point brace.

....those hardwood pads have stood up pretty well,
I made them up when I got my '04.

lol.... I'm still looking for an acorn like that too.
.....but not too many other expensive habits so, ya gots to do what ya gots ta do.

(btw, I wish it was only 5g this past summer)

I can only imagine how much better your car performs with this and the difference over an X.
Thanks Dean, these rear pieces really complement the front braces that I put in earlier.
Together, they make a significant improvement to the car.

No worries Ian. Thanks for trying nonetheless =)

On the plus side, it certainly looks optimistic that it'll work. Hopefully a G member will try it.. if not, maybe I'll take the gamble and try it myself.

Yeah, it's too bad it didn't work out Wes....
IMO, I think all the X owners have reason to be very optimistic about it fitting though.

Nice write up Ian! Good to hear the positive feedback. However your making me add one more this to my list of wanted mods. Why is it the more I visit the site the more I feel my wallet getting lighter and lighter?

Diff casting & hubs don't have much protection on them.

.....surface rust is normal.

Thanks Ian for the info on the threaded insert--the instructions in english always helps! Went smoothly. At first when I went to test fit the 6pt, I thought that maybe I got the wrong part. Turns out, the braces was sent with the attachment hardware in the wrong places. In any case, the car did feel smoother afterwards. I could hear the rear suspension working but what I felt was more subdued. anyways, I ordered the rear tie and M brace to complete the set like you suggested.
