How are these for track wheels/tires?

I have an HPDE event coming up next month and am looking for a set of inexpensive wheels for the track, since I sold my stock set. Anyway, I found a set of 18" G35 coupe wheels (18x8.0 +30mm offset all around) with like-new BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW2 tires (stock sizes F:225/45/18 and R: 245/45/18) and TPMS for $550.

How do you think this combo will hold up on the track?

Also, ideally I'd swap the front 225/45/18s for a pair of 245/45/18, 255/40/18 or 255/45/18 and use that for the rear, but I don't want to spend the extra money. =P

you'll be fine with those as long as tires are still good.

I guess what I'm wondering is whether 1) these OEM size tires are meaty enough for a track event and 2) whether it really makes a noticable difference going wider?

I've done some canyon carving with my street tires (245/35/20 and 285/30/20 Falken FK452s) and I think they stick pretty well. I could always run my street setup at the track if need be, but I'd rather not if I can help it. Suspension mods are Eibachs springs and Hotchkis sway bars at the middle setting.

Those will probably work just fine, it just depends on how much you push the car and how well those tires actually perform. You can have wider tires and not perform as well as stickier rubber in narrower widths.

I run with 245/40/19 FK452s on 19x8.5 and they work pretty well. Could be better. As my instructor keeps telling me, i'm doing well on the track but keeps saying i should believe in the car and push it some more.
