19x8 up front and 19x8.5 in the rear
both setups will have the 245/40/19
sorry i can't run 19x8.5 up front because don't have the extra 2 wheels in that size.
what do you think?
will the x8.5 in the back have a little more concavity for that staggered look, or will the different sidewalls look funky?

I'd worry first about the outside diameter. All four corners have to match to avoid AWD issues down the road.
Otherwise, I don't see there being enough of a difference front to rear that most would likely not even notice.

As for concavity, that would depend on offset and wheel design.
Here's a pic, it's not very clear but you can see what i'm referring to.
245/40/19 on 19x8.5
is this an X or non-X?

I would run the same size front and back on the X, enables you to rotate tires front to back, plus you are ensured the diameters are exactly the same for your awd system.

+1 the 245's on my 8" coupe rims were stretched wearing too much in the centre. 8.5" is perfect.
what i meant was if the OP goes wider rim in the rear with the same size tire on front and back, the tire won't have the same side profile and have a more "stretched" (for lack of better term) look than the front...which of course, would still be ewww.
Basically, if you're going same size tires all around, wouldn't all of you agree that the same size rims should be used, especially if you have the option such as the OP and myself had when buying?
Exactly Johnny, I think that is what most of the people here said.
^Perfect Wayne, I'm happy we cleared that up...hahahah!
A buddy of mine did that on his audi a4 (awd)... same size tires but wider rims in the rear...it didn't work at all (looks wise), just trying to save someone else the regret of doing what he did.

It will not throw the AWD off... Been there Ran that size...
on my X ran Coupe 19s come with 245 on 8.5 and 225 on 8 front...It threw the awd OFF
Changed the Front to 245 ran it for months, and aggressive... No problems at all...
as theyve mentioned 245 on 8.5 is perfect no stretch
245 is a stretch on 10.5 =]
