Haha.. I guess we'll be holding our fingers crossed together! I've been keeping in touch with David, but seems like there is unexpected delay due to some internal issues. I will give him a call again early next week to f/u. I am definitely disappointed on the way they are handing this project. Seems like I just keep getting the run around to buy more time.

Please refer to the last email from 1/24..

Hi Jason,

As I've mentioned we are in the process of developing a new method / process of handling product testing. Marketing unfortunately still has not gotten to this yet, they have a few other more pressing issues I guess. So, the first step is figuring out a procedure, then confirming a date. Hang in there... there's little I can do to expedite this at this point.

Thanks,
David

I was hoping things might have progressed a little.. well looks like I will work on exhaust then drop after that. Thank you for the very quick response on your end however.

Can you use the D-specs from the 370z?

You're welcome. Which exhaust are you going with? I sold my Ark catback and will be in the market for another exhaust soon too. Currently, not really impressed with any of the ones out right now.

I have narrowed my choices down to Invidia or FI. Which one I will end up with will most likely be a toss up right up until I buy one of them.

Can't go wrong with either of em.. but I really like the fact that the Invidia is significantly cheaper! Enough to save a few hundred to pick up a HFC to pair it up with..

Yeah that has crossed my mind as well. My only worry about the HFC is that notorious hiss with the VQ engine.

Have you considered either RTP or ART pipes? You have more options than just Berks which are known for their hissing in the VQ's like you mentioned.

I wouldn't consider test pipes if any kind. I don't want to deal with the hassle of changing them out for inspection etc. I know there are more options then Berk but every aftermarket TP or HFC I heard has the same hiss. However I haven't heard invidia's HFC yet.

After reading through this thread, it looks as if there is no option for aftermarket struts that will work on an AWD? I saw the G37 coupe parts worked (fitment wise) for the RWD. I just wanted to confirm.

Ok. I contacted David again today and here's how he responded:

Jason,

I know this is taking a while, but not sure what else I can tell you. You keep asking the person who wants it done as much as you do. But it's not up to me, or any one person here. I think I've mentioned in the past that there's several departments involved. For example, I know marketing is working with Hitachi Legal in NY to write up a release of liability form. But they are at the mercy of how quickly Legal turns that around because they have many other issues in front of it. I also have product planning asking me about the expected annual sales volume if these units are approved.

I have the parts here at the office ready to go, and just waiting for the other departments to work out what they need to work out. Please be understanding that Hitachi is a very large company, and large companies move very slow. Believe me, it's frustrating for me as well. I will contact you when everything is worked out.

Thanks,
David

My impression of this situation is that there will be some delay as to when everything is finalized. My guess is another month or so of waiting..

Put on my 370z rays on for a fitment this past weekend and it looks not so good without a drop. I love the look but the wheel gap is big.. I think I will be holding off on my exhaust for now and work on lowering to pair with the new wheels. I think I am just going to go for it and pick up the HPs and pair them with my eibachs. I am just waiting for the last of the snow season here and just get it done without the test fit from Tokico.
