Replacing Tires.. decisions.. decision...

Front

Rear

Dealer says I need to change all four tires (+alignment) and told me that they are running a promotion of buy 3 and get 1 for $1 until end of this month.

The service work shows,

3/32 Front Tires
1/32 Rear Tires

They are stock tires and driven 28,500 miles. They seem fine to me, but then again I'm not an expert. I thought it'd be fully bald at 1/32, but I guess not.

Do I need new tires?

Yeah, you won't pass NY inspection with 2/32 tires...

Looks like you need tires to me.

I just bought a couple here for a good price $100 a piece. Hankook Ventus.

^^What size did you buy? They showed $170 each for the 245/40/19 which I can get at Discount Tire locally for less.

If you want some good tires you should go with Nitto Invos. They are really good grip tires and much more comfortable than the potenzas. Or you can check the private classifieds section one member has tires in the sizes you need

I should have clarified the $100 price. I bought 225/55/17s. I'm sure the 18s & 19s are more.

Oh wow.. I NEED to change my tires. I put a penny in one of those deep deeps(lines?) and Mr. Lincoln's head did hid a bit. Thus I thought I still had some left. Now, I have more decisions to make. summer vs. all-season, brand, where to buy, where to mount and etc.. I think I'll stay up all night tonight researching it.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll definitely look into those brands and websites.

I'm thinking of Bridgestone Pole Position ultra high performance for an all season tire; Yokohama Advans max performance for a summer only tire.

you see that line in the grooves of your tire. That's a wear bar. When you hit that, it's time to change tire. States often make up BS laws about tire safety (like politics and lawmakers all of the sudden an experts on tires) to generate more money on sales tax and other taxes.

So just keep watching for that wear bar and camber wear at the front. If you don't reach the wear bar but your inside of the front tires wears out to the core (core rubber is usually slightly lighter than tread rubber) it's time to change them as well.

haha, mine look worse than that and I'm only at 11k miles.

These look like a great option with about 3 times the tread life.

pretty happy with my kumhos from tire rack. can still bust loose the rear on curves, but they stick good, are QUIET, and have a well damped and smooth tracking ride. much better than OEM bridgestones.

HELL NO. I have so soft A$$ sidewalled Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position tires on my car and can't wait to get them off. Stay away from those tires unless you mind an unstable ride. I'm on the search for better tires for my 18s.
