Replacing Tires.. decisions.. decision...
Anybody try the firestone firehawk?
I've got the Kuhmo ecsta platinum 245 and 225 front. I've had balance issues with 2 of them which were replaced free of charge, and now it seems after 6k miles I have balance issues again.
Funny thing is, tirerack was bragging to me about how the kuhmo tires are one of the most consistent for being round and true.

arok5,
Summer tires in Boston? Did you have Summers on there before the PS's? Do you have trouble in the winter? I'm getting ready for new tires on my X, but totally ruled out Summer tires since we get some modest snow here, but it does/can get well below freezing.

Hey JC,
I had winters on there before (Blizzaks). There is no way I'd get through a Boston winter with summer tires, haha. It gets crazy up here. I'm very happy with the Pilot Sports though! You think you are going to go with summers or A/S?

arok5,
Based on what I need them for, I'm probably best served by all-seasons. However, the only tire in the stock 17" size that I'm warm to is the Michelin PS A/S Plus. So I've been researching the Continental ExtremeContact DWS in 245/50-17, so I may be going with a + zero size, which is virtually the same diameter as the stock 225's. We'll see where I end up.
I've never been to Boston, but really want to visit! So much history and so beautiful!

Ah, got ya. Makes sense. I have two friends who run the Michelin PS A/S's on their Nissan Maxima and Acura TL and they absolutely love them for A/S's. I was driving my buddy's TL the other day and I was very impressed by the performance of them.
Either way, I hope you get the tires that are best for you and it all works out perfectly.
And yeah, I'm spoiled...born and raise in Boston...very lucky to be here, it's a great place to live. Busy and cutthroat when it comes to sports, haha, but pretty great place to be.

I've got in an order for DWS's on the sport wheels and should have them tuesday.
To keep the same load and speed ratings between front to rear, the sizes I went with were 235/45R18 and 255/40R18. I have taken very good pictures of my car with the stock tires and will do exact comparisons with the new sizes in DWS's. This should help others with sport wheels in the event they want to make the move to DWS's as well, since I know a lot of people on here don't like reducing the rolling diameter, even if by only about a half an inch.
