Brake Question

Hello All

2008 G35xS Sedan

Overall the brakes stop the car which only has 18k on it. However if any speed at all or quick stop the brakes aren't as smooth as other new cars I've driven. Anybody else have issues with the stock brakes? They are not the sport brakes due to being the "x". The pedal and steering wheel vibrate when having to use the brakes with any speed.

Just determining if I should bring it up to the dealer.

Thanks for any info.

Your rotors sound warped and your pads probably need replacing That's usually a "wear and tear" issue and not covered under warranty but you can try the dealer and see what they say

I have an 08 G35 sedan with 16,000 mi on it. I just got my front rotors replaced for free along with some other new parts. There is a TSB regarding brake "judder' and the dealership should fix it for free.

just got mine back from the dealer for the same issue. I actually had the brake judder fixed earlier this year. This time it was a wear and tear issue for the rear. I have about 22k miles on my car...i was surprised that they were worn so quickly. On other cars you can get a good 40k out of brakes or more

stock rotors, whether its the regular journey/base/X rotors or the larger Sport rotors are junk IMO. They wear far too fast and can't handle braking duties before they start to heat up, warp and cause fade. same goes for the pads IMO. Better aftermarket rotors and pads are a much better choice IMO.

Go to your dealership, tell them you have the brake judder TSB and that your steering wheel vibrates when braking from high speeds. They should resurface your rotors free of charge.

spoke to dealer car fell within the tsb, they resurfaced the rotors and installed new full cover heat shields no charge. could not get them to install new pads though.
