Wheel Set-Up Assistance

I'm getting closer to picking up an 07-08 G35 Sedan and want to make sure I have everything wheel/tire wise correct so that I can get a set of wheels ordered. I was looking at the following specs:

Front: 20x9 +25 with 235/35/20
Rear: 20x10 + 30 with 265/30/20

I plan to roll the rear fenders if necessary and understand this is a bit aggressive as I am looking to be close to flush.

The only downside I see with these specs are the lack of tire options with the only reasonably priced ones being the General Exclaims which I'd prefer to avoid.

Any thoughts on what you would change or whether these will be too aggressive/not aggressive enough?

Thanks in advance for any help...I look forward to learning and being an active member on here.

After more research, I think I'm going to do the following instead:

Front: 20x9 +20 with 225/35/20
Rear: 20x10 +30 with 255/35/20

This will allow a little easier fitment in the rear and similar in the front. However, it will allow me to run Falken FK452s which I have used and liked in the past.

Any thoughts?

Depending on how aggressive you want to go, but I'm sure you can go 9.5/10.5 with those offsets. Can I ask why you want to stay away from Generals? A lot of people on here who run aggressive setups love Generals. I have the Falken 452's and mine bubbled just like everybody said they would. Also, when the start to wear, they get loud.

I had been reading some negative reviews lately about the General Exclaims. I tried searching these forums for feedback, but didn't see anything posted. Suppose the search didn't return good queries. I suppose I won't cross them off as a contender for tires.

the fronts I'd suggest 235/35 that will be flush and best setup

Rears
you can go with .5 width wider and same offset or drop to a lower offset like +20 with a 245 tire. (same width)
or
255 with a +25 offset

where you're at now, is a good setup. but the fronts will have more of a stretch than the rears.

are you getting custom offsets?

fyi hankooks v12 are a better tire and cost less.

Yes, planning to get custom offsets. The Hankooks don't come in a 235/35, only a 225/35. I was worried about going with anything less than a 255 series tire on the rear for stability purposes. I'd rather run a 10.5" rear and possibly would get a +33 offset or something close to that to not push the rears out further. The more stretch I suppose would make up for the difference of pushing the rears out.

between a 245 and 255, you wont even notice the difference.

guessing you're getting Forgedstar wheels?

if you want 255, then get a 10.5 with about +30 to +33, like you said and that will be perfect. Remember camber will be needed and good amount of drop.

you're on the right path, so anything you choose will be right on.

Some type of iForged wheels, just not sure which ones exactly yet. We'll see.

Out of curiosity, why don't more people run 225/40/20 tires? Wouldn't they be closer in overall diameter to the stock Sport tires (225/50/18)?

To me it would seem like a 225/40/20 tire in the front with a 245/35/20 tire in the rear would be most similar to stock calibration. Then it'd be a matter of figuring out which widths would have similar stretch on those size tires so that they are similar, not one buldged and the other stretched.

on the fronts it doesn't matter which tire size you run, its the rear that matters.

lower profile for a better drop with less chance of rubbing.

Just checked and they don't make 225/40/20 tires. Crunching these numbers is driving me nuts. I keep forgetting stuff and changing my mind.

Im now considering a 20x9.5 +30 in the front with 245/35/20 tires and a 20x10.5 +40 in the rear with 275/30/20 tires.

Alright...i'm going nuts.

do you want stretched tires or not.

the new size isn't much of a stretch...

Go with this size. This is the size I would like to go with, if I had the cash for a custom offset.

235/35/20 9.0 +20
255/35/20 10.5 +33

this is the perfect size. Gives you stretch and aggressive fitment.

I think I got it figured out. Close to those same specs except with a 9.5" front wheel instead. Thank you for all your help!
