Question Effect of 19" wheels

Hi All,

Another post with a question. How do 19" wheels effect the G35's handling characteristics? Does it have any negative impacts at all?

Of course there would be more grip but does having large tires like that disrupt the handling setup as Infiniti designed it from the factory?

Recently Car And Driver did a test on the effects of bigger wheels.
This should be helpful.

OP....

19s were offered from the factory...must not cause too many problems if they were delivered as such

So the reason I asked in the first place was because I was thinking about getting some G37 coupe 19" put on. I didn't want to sacrifice performance and ride for looks.

Based on that C&D article, 18's may be better for overall performance. My personal assessment aside, has anyone ever seen 18" replicas of the G37 19" OEMs?

At what stage do after market wheels begin to affect wheel bearings? Is there a magic weight that you have to begin to worry that the wheel bearings being affected?

Take a close look at that chart.
They assume that the 19's are heavier than the smaller wheels but I know my 19's are lighter than the OEMs.
They also have different tire sizes which cause the speedometer to be off. I chose a tire that kept the same exact outside diameter.

Larger wheels do not have to mean a decrease in performance
There is a slightly stiffer ride, however. This again depends on your choice of tires.

my 20's feel close to the same as my OEM 18's... i also went with a stretched tire (245/30/20 front and rear) vs going wider tires which keeps the weight down a bit as well
