245/45/18 all around for staggered '07 sedan

For all those who own a G35 with staggered wheels, you know how frustrating it can be to find tires (f: 225/50/18, r: 245/45/18). There have been a few threads about putting 245/45 tires all around. But has anyone ACTUALLY done it? If so, please let us know how it turned out. Any issues? Any serious degradation in performance?

I spoke to a service guy at an Infiniti dealership and he said he's had customers put 245/45's all around and it results in the dash lights going on and off cuz somehow it throws off the computers. Somehow i doubt that. But is there any truth to this?

Another option is to try 235/45/18's on the front. Has anyone tried this?

All comments much appreciated!!!

Our 07 had staggered 18s and I went w/ 235/50/18s all around, same diameter as stock so it worked fine and the slightly wider fronts & slightly narrower rears still handled great. If you look up my threads here you should find it w/ pics.

run 235/50/18 up front. 245 bulges too much. run 245 or 255 out back.

What about running 235/45 up front? And leaving the rear ones alone.

run the calculations, 235/45 is to skinny of a sidewall, you run the chance of throwing off the VDC system. 235/50/18 works perfectly.

Are you running the 235/50/18's right now on your fronts? If so, how is everything? Steering response? VDC ok? Fit? Tire bulge?

I wish those pics in my thread were still active, you'd see they fit all 4 wheels pretty well. I put 30k on those tires and then got my 09. No speedo/ traction control/ABS errors, good fit, and no TPMS issues.

Had been running 245/45/18 in front and 255/45/18 in back but decided the stagger was not enough to do any good, plus I could not rotate the tires. Switched to 245/45/18 all around and this works just fine. No dash lights (nor would I have expected any with all four tires being the same diameter). Front end of the car sits slightly lower on these tires (lowers center of gravity) and shorter sidewall probably gives better handling as compared to the 225/50 stock fronts.

EZ-G,

Hey, thanks for the info. Do the tires bulge out much on the fronts? Notice any degradation in steering response?

The bulging is perceptible but I do not think overly so on the 7-1/2 in. (normally front) rims as compared to the stretched appearance of the same size tires on the 8-1/2 in. back rims, but you would have to be looking for this to notice. I posted a few pics in this forum a while back of when I had 245s in front and 255s in back. As far as steering response I did not notice any detrimental effects, this probably has more to do with the tire model and mfr. than the slight change in fitment anyway. I suspect the wider footprint and slighly lower sidewall may improve handling but I cannot prove this.
