Rear sway bar/splash sheilds

Was watching the Hotchkis sway bar install video.
Step1 was remove the splash guards for access to the sway-bar mounts.

Just looked at my 08X sedan and I don't have those splash guards. I see a bracket and two threaded studs and I'm wondering if my car is missing the gaurds (just bought it - used)

The car in the video was an 09 coupe. I looked at an OEM parts site but couldn't find them anywhere. I live in New England and want all the protection I can get. My car came off a lease from TX maybe they don't put them on southern cars? or maybe I'm just being crazy.

Can some one please peak under their 08 sedan and see if they have the guards.

The splash guards are an optional add-on, some cars have them some dont, they are extra $$, should be able to get these from eBay or contact rick@riverside on this site

Thanks for the reply. Ok, didn't realize these would be an option. I know the color match ones that go in the wheel wells are considered and add on ....but would never have guessed that the black plastic underbody protectors would be optional.

I wonder how they decide which cars should get it? I got my car used, too, originally from Maryland, and it has all the underbody guards. I always thought they put it there for aerodynamics, not necessarily pure protection.

No. Searched a bunch of online part vendors but can't figure out what it's call or what section it would be in. Looked under "body hardware" but no luck.

Here's a pic of what I'm talking about. Think I should have a guard in the circled area.
