2008 Sedan Tein S lowering springs, SPC camber/toe kit maxxed out?

2008 Sedan Tein S lowering springs, SPC camber/toe kit maxxed out?

I have a 2008 G-35 RWD sedan. Installed Tein S lowering springs, bought and installed SPC camber kit. The front is not a problem as it is not wearing out tires, the following is all info for rear wheels... Got the alignment but they could not get it in specs.... the best they could do was -1.5 camber .25 toe (they said the kit was maxxed out), it wore the tires bald after 13,000 mile (500+ thread wear Yokohama yk520). I took it to a second alignment shop after replacing the tires and they could not get the alignment in either. Is there a kit that offers more adjustment or is this the best I'm going to get. I did notice it is lower than Tein S springs advertised, it rides fine, just want to get feedback on if I can get the alignment in or if it will even make a difference on thread wear. Buying tires every 13,000 mile does not sound right... Thanks in advance.....

i am dropped on BC coils and i have the SPC camber kit (front arms and rear toe bolts)

when you got the camber kits did you get rear toe bolts as well because you are going to need that. also if you have the toe bolts did you dremmel out the section that its connect to?

the shop i went to put my rears at -1.7 and -1.6 with a toe of .05 in the rear.

Yes I got the bolts. The first shop I took it to did the dremel thing but couln't get it to come in. Now a second shop has told me that the kit won't get the adjustment in. Im wondering if a different kit will work or if my springs lowered the car too much to adjust the aligment with any kit? Both shops were performance shops that deal with car mods and came reccomended. Hope I don't have to live with changing rear tires every 13,000 mile... it is on stock 18" with stock size tires...

They botched the install. No way the Spc can't get it to within stock specs. This is why it is better to diy than give a shop some parts. I would bet they didn't open the slot enough and the bolt is not moving into the newly opened area.

^^^ agreed there is no reason why the camber kit shouldnt be able to get your wheels back in to spec, i m pretty sure i am lower than you since i m on coils and i managed to do it.

I installed the kits myself and brought it in to the shop. i didnt have a dremel at the of the install so i wasnt able to widen the hole but the shop still managed to get it in to spec.

check and see if the toe bolts are reversed or upside down because they are labeled which side they need to be on

Thanks for all the replies... Should I get a new toe kit or just the instructions and verify they are properly installed?

i d look over the install videos first they can be found on their site and its posted through you tube.

i managed to follow the videos and install it myself with no problems so you should be able to find the problem if there is one

How low is the Tein S? I am assuming that it is somewhere between H&R and Eibach. If in that ballpark you definitely should easily get stock camber range and zero toe if that's what you want. On my Eibach, I set it played with it to get the approximate camber I wanted and then went to get it aligned. The rears came out to -0.8* camber and 0.07/0.08in toe.

Like CChoy says, there are videos. There are also how2's in the G and 350z forums for the rear camber kit install with pics. Read up on those and verify that these were done. I think the dremeling of the slot is only done on the inner side of both sides.

The Tein S springs lowered the car more than I expected (the rear tires are 1" into the fender, the front has a 3/4" gap ). I verified installation of the toe kit and everything seams fine. I spoke to tech support @ SPC 3 times while I was checking everything they were very helpful... from our conversations and following his instructions we verified that the kit is maxxed out for toe on one wheel and not the other(ofcourse that would limit the final rear adjustment since it has to match)... this led us to believe something is not right with the car on that wheel. I'll be back in the alignment shop Monday to let them try a few things. One option might be getting toe closer to zero at the cost of living with 2+degrees of negative camber. I'm told toe wear tires more than camber.

3rd time is a charm! Got the alignment in!!

Took the G-35 to a front end and frame shop that does alignment expecting to drop a weeks pay to get my issues worked out. I explained to the mechanic the history of my alignment problem and the details behind the chamber/toe kit by SPC. He came back 30 mins latter telling me eveything came right in. Come to find out the 2 shops I had taken it to before were trying to get camber & toe adjusted by just playing with the toe bolt. He told me he could tell that no adjustment had been made to the camber linkage... You figure the first shop that installed the adjustable arm would use it to make adjustments... I called back to SPC tech support and mentioned to Chris that they may want to update the instuctions to read that the adjustable arm is for adjustments. Thanks for all the replies and thanks to Chris at SPC for walking me through this.

wow... glad you got things worked out

but on a side note these guys who say "they know what they are doing" should have done it right the first time... i managed to bring my car in to a brakes plus after i installed everything lucky there was a scrappy looking fellow there that specializes in aftermarket stuff so he took care of me while everyone else refused to even get close to it.

but congrats! now lets some pics!

Awesome. Not surprised though. Not sure where you are but around here, most typical shops are unfamiliar with these aftermarket camber kits. For front and back, I set the camber correction myself and the shop just had to correct for toe. You can easily get them in stock range by eyeballing and just set the two arms the same length.

Anyways, congrats. Hopefully with the arms set, you won't have any future problems.
