Project refinish 3 piece wheels.... advice welcomed

I have a set of blitz type 03s laying around in my basement. It's not perfect and needs some tlc. I want to either paint it or powder coat it. Which finish will last longer? I took it apart so I can polish it and plan to paint the center piece. what color should i go with. I was leaning towards black. advice is appreciated. they are 18x8 and 18x9 +35 offset. I will need spacers.

my car 2008 x

quick rub down with 1000 grit

custom gunmetal but i don't think it will go with my car

thanks.

i think i m going to go with gold. i m a p-i-m-p. lol. i had the gun metal for a while and want something different. i don't have any photoshop skills to see what it would look like. i m not sure if i should paint the polished part with black? or keep it polished.

stripping of paint begins tonight. harder than i thought it would be.

Why scratch the project? I'm undertaking this same thing this weekend on my OEM wheels. Crazy, maybe, but the paint is damaged and I was quoted $750 to refinish them by a local shop, and the dealership quoted $350 per refurbished wheel if I gave them all of mine. So...

What paint stripper did you use? Why was it such a mess? Seems like they should just rinse off.

Most caustic paint strippers are water-based and soluble. Garden hose and some paper towels, etc normally takes care of outdoor projects.
