I have a set of blitz type 03s laying around in my basement. It's not perfect and needs some tlc. I want to either paint it or powder coat it. Which finish will last longer? I took it apart so I can polish it and plan to paint the center piece. what color should i go with. I was leaning towards black. advice is appreciated. they are 18x8 and 18x9 +35 offset. I will need spacers.

i think i m going to go with gold. i m a p-i-m-p. lol. i had the gun metal for a while and want something different. i don't have any photoshop skills to see what it would look like. i m not sure if i should paint the polished part with black? or keep it polished.
stripping of paint begins tonight. harder than i thought it would be.

it's a fking mess trying to strip the paint. i have the paint and the primer coming off. also some pitting. it's gonna take some time.
i think i might scratch this project and get some 19s. i m looking at stance coils. happy b-day to me next week

Why scratch the project? I'm undertaking this same thing this weekend on my OEM wheels. Crazy, maybe, but the paint is damaged and I was quoted $750 to refinish them by a local shop, and the dealership quoted $350 per refurbished wheel if I gave them all of mine. So...
What paint stripper did you use? Why was it such a mess? Seems like they should just rinse off.

Most caustic paint strippers are water-based and soluble. Garden hose and some paper towels, etc normally takes care of outdoor projects.Originally Posted by 4DGS

Nice old school wheels. Worth the get them refinished.
Ok.I.decided to have a rim shop.finish them.. it would take me 5 hours wheel to finish. Time is money. 85$ each stripped and repainted gloss black.
