Stock Brake Pad Shims?

Recently installed new pads and rotors on my G35x. The Hawk ceramic pads had plates that came glued to the backside of them, do I need to also install the factory shims?

no you don't need the stock shims. i used hawk pads as well when i replaced mine and did not shim them. i did however apply synthetic brake grease to the backs, which i always do, to prevent squealing.

honestly, i've never shimmed pads. i don't truly understand what the shims are for other than noise suppression.

They seem fine and make no noise whatsoever, but it was bugging me not to know for sure.
