Burning smell and major heat on one rotor

Considering what you've said you've done already, if this were mine, I think I'd consider replacing the pads and rotor first, and then if still having issues, trying a caliper rebuild kit. As long as the inner cylinder isn't scored, there is very little to go wrong on a caliper that isn't addresses with a simple rebuild kit.
I guess I'm thinking that if you had an issue with the caliper sticking, that the rotor was overheated in spots and you're getting/got cementite formation which, in a never ending downward 'death-spiral' of degradation, accelerates the propensity for further pad transfer and rotor overheating.
Another more obscure idea would be that the hydraulic proportioning valve for you braking force distribution is faulty and sending undue pressure to that one caliper.

What are your current IR heat readings (after driving) from your gauge? If they are still elevated, did the mechanic at least see it?

About 130 deg hotter than the other rear side and yes he knows about it. I think my car is haunted. Well i know i bought a lemon. This just adds to the ...that's strange....factor. ( replacement engine at 65K, horrible vibrations, this) if it's not one thing it's another with this car. Like it but man this thing is a lemon

So today on highway and road when i was braking..some points in the brake would make the car/floor and wheel shake a tad but go away as quick as it came. Almost felt like the trans shudder issue at 40 mph. Something isn't right.
I just purchased rear rotors and pads and want to buy a rear left caliper to replace my one now but can't find one anywhere. Also going to bleed the brakes when i replace the rear rotors and pads.

Another little update: I dropped my car off today to get an alignment and tires rebalanced.
My original PSI was only about 26...normal should be 33-35 So they pumped them up to normal.
When i went on highway the vibrations were about 35-45% better..i could actually go 76-77 and have a fairly decent ride..still vibrations but not like before. I am knocking on a lot of wood it stays like this but who knows with my luck
Also when i went to brake at those speeds..wheel and floor shook bad..really bad. Was never this bad yesterday but now today it's horrible when i brake.
Would warped rear rotors do this? I am replacing those soon. The fronts seem fine.
