Ok great. Thank you for the info and I will definitely replace the grommet as well

I am having a hell of a time trying to find replacement o-rings for the throttle bodies. Everytime I search, the gaskets for the Gen1 comes up. Any idea where I can get my hands on a pair of these??

Thanks!!

This may be the part you're looking for >>

http://www.orderinfinitiparts.com/pa...mponent=GASKET

I think its best to ask them for a picture or part number to make sure.

Q8y, thanks but it looks like this is for the G37. I need the 2007 G35 o-rings - the orange ones as shown in the steps at the beginning of this thread.
Thanks!

It's a very common problem for those of us with '07 G35 sedans, since it was a new generation compared to the coupe of that same model year. Some parts suppliers have it down, others do not. The simplest way I have found to avoid any confusion is to specify that my car is an '08 model year, since they are virtually identical in most every detail and, since the (G35) coupe had been discontinued by then (the G37 was the only in coupe form for '08), they were the ONLY G35 made in '08. This means that any parts listing for an '08 G35 has to be for a 2nd gen sedan, which our '07's are. Give it a shot and see if it clears it up for you.

HOT DOG!! Finally cleaned the TBs last night and BOOM! No more idle flutter!
Actually ended up having to go to the dealer to get the o-rings so I'm sure I paid more than I had to!
Thanks Q8y_drifter! Followed your instructions EXACTLY. Its folks like you that take the time to post these DIYs that make these forums so awesome!
BTW, did you or anyone else on here add a thin layer of lube on the o-ring before re-assembly?

I hate to noob like this but I'm out of search time. I have to leave and I want to post this before I go. I cleaned my TB on my '04 6MT Sedan and got a MIL and a P0511 code for Idle Air Control Revolutions Higher than expected. Anyone know what I did wrong? Do I have to do the throttle closed reset and if so, can someone link the procedure to me? Or is that something I have to have my dealer do?

Are you sure you got everything plugged back in? Maybe try reseating all the connectors to the IACV. Here's the (generic) code breakdown: http://engine-codes.com/p0511.html

BTW, do you realize you posted this in the 2nd gen section?

EDIT: I just realized that your decription of the trouble code does not match the number you gave. The correct code for an " Idle Air Control Revolutions Higher than expected" is a P0507, not a P0511.

I may be quoting the wrong code. I tried to quote it from memory because I don't have a code reader in front of me. I used my friend's code reader to clear it the first time. I remembered the code description a lot better than the code itself. Pulling up P0507 in the link you posted pulls exactly the description I got. I think I damaged it when I was cleaning it. I didn't take it off. I had a friend turn the key to "run" and put it in gear and press the gas. I was afraid pushing the throttle blade manually would damage it. Looks like I effed it up anyways. Go me!

EDIT: I wonder if my ESP company will cover it. I'm gonna call them today.

Did this over the past weekend and everything went smoothly. Idle is noticeably smoother and no issues after I did the resets!!

This past weekend I cleaned my Throttle Body and yup, I moved the butterfly. Not knowing I wasn't suppose to do that. Well I put it all back together and now I get a rough idle, jumping between 1500 - 2000. To reset the ECU I did the relearn process. Which didn't help at all. 3 days later I take it to Nissan, and they say that they couldn't complete the relearn process and told me to take it to Infiniti. So off I go to Infiniti, now infiniti tells me the same thing, they can not complete the relearn process either and want to charge me $2,029.91 to replace my TB's.
This is crazy! Just my luck maybe. But what do you guys think? Do I really need new TB's? or could it be something else??
Oh and finally the CEL comes on, I take it to Autozone to get read. The codes are:
P0420 = large vacuum leak, Rich AF ratio - fuel system faulty, ignition system malfunction, faulty catalytic converter.
P0430 = large vacuum leak, Rich AF ratio - fuel system faulty, ignition system malfunction, faulty catalytic converter.
P0507 = large vacuum leak, Faulty throttle control actuator, Throttle Body damage

Any thoughts?

I am assuming the shops that looked at it all checked thoroughly for an obvious vacuum leak, right?

I just took my 2006 Coupe, 6mt to Nissan for an oil change and smog test. They were unable to complete the smog test due to the rpm's not staying within range for reading. Apparently they were jumping every 30 seconds or so. I have 58,200 miles on it, have never cleaned or done anything to it other than oil changes, it's stock, no CAI or exhaust upgrades. I have no CEL but have noticed it feeling a little jumpy sometimes, more so when I let off the gas and "coast".

I immediately thought it could be an issue with cleaning the throttle body, I was hoping someone could advise me if this may be the case. I hate to spend hundreds of dollars for them to diagnose it if I don't have to.

Thank you,
Lisa

ps. I don't drive the car daily, sometimes it sits for a week or so in the garage, not sure if that would be an issue or not.
