if you start messing with runner diameter without working on engine tuning you can lose a lot of output.

I'm of the opinion that messing with factory bolt-on parts without any interest in tuning is an act of mental masturbation (and a waste of money).

 

I'm interested to see if the intake adds anything at the wheels. As soon as it's ready and i see a dyno sheet before and after the intake, i'll let you know.

remember, our intake is still 2-3 weeks off.

 

the sound of an intake is worth every penny. I miss my coupe because of the Injen.

 

The sound should be nice... but the question is whether or not it would hinder performance over the stock intakes. The stock design is fantastic and I wouldn't want to lose hp for better sound...

And for those talking about the price, remember that you're getting 2 intakes... most decent intakes when they were released were about $200 a pop anyway, so this is about even.

 

if an exposed round K&N filter is installed isnt it better than having a plastic housing over a flat stock air filter???? can someone give me insight on this? i have always wondered this

 

sometimes a flat housing is better as it causes turbulence that eventually leads to mixing, which is good for MAF sensors (which we have). I've seen several cases where a pod filter mounted on a velocity stack actually ruined an idle and caused fueling problems. THat's not to say pod filters are "bad" but the MAF sensor needs to be located and designed to handle the flow characterstics of a velocity stack. Factory MAF's are designed for the intakes that the car comes with, not for anything else. Start changing variables and undesirable effects are possible.

wait a minute... that's not an 07 sedan...

 

if there actually is a loss ( which ive never experienced with any intake ive installed) it would be so minute that i would still take the sound lol. The expressions on peoples faces when my injen was redlining was priceless.

 

it looks like it should fit the 07 sedan as it is the same engine. i would imagine that the z's engine bay would be more cramped too.

 

If you want sound and power, save up for a TT kit!
