Those airboxes insulate a lot better than you might think. This information is for first generation cars, but I don't think it would be any different for the dual-intake setup of the HR.Originally Posted by logik05se
The whole idea of not having airboxes doesnt really make a diff anyway. The only way you will experience heatsoak is if you leave the car running in park for a long period of time, otherwise the air is constantly moving anyway.
First - at speed, the intake temps are about 20 degrees above ambient.
When stopped, I have seen intake temps approach 150 degrees without the a/c on. Ambient at the time was about 85 degrees. It took approximately 45 seconds for the intake temp to rise that 45 degrees.
Having the a/c turned on caused the e-fans to run In turn, intake temps were steady at +20 ambient, even when idling in traffic.
Once moving, it can take between 30 and 60 seconds for the intake charges to stabilize at +20 ambient, depending on how hot the charge was to begin with.
An open intake will produce higher intake temps when not at speed. An open intake will also get hotter more quickly, and take much longer to cool off.

looks pretty sweet. but i will not spend 300 bucks to loose torque at low revs. that's where i spend most of my time and that's where i want the power. how is the sound??

Fortunately this is a short-ram setup. The VQ35DE has been observed to lose power when a full length intake was used in conjunction with an aftermarket plenum/spacer. Of course, the 07 plenum is completely different, and might not suffer from the same issues, but I wouldn't be surprised if the effects were the same.Originally Posted by logik05se
Thats the actual intake....I had a short ram on my coupe and then changed to a CAI. I also had a short ram on my 05 maxima. Theres zero difference in performance that i noticed on teh coupe. The only diff was the true CAI (which stillen is not) gave a slightly deeper sound due to the long tube.

Looking to purchase the Fujita intake now, does anyone know of a shop that currently has the intake available? Please advise.
