hot air is less dense, IE it has less O2 in it, less O2 means less power.
so you try to get your mota to suck in cold air.

An exact number would never to be able to be determined. The heat shields are simply for a piece of mind. The stock intakes are very efficient, and the stock heatshields prevent heat soak from occurring, but they are still a tad too baffled from integrated resonators (Rightfully so, after all, this is a LUXURY vehicle). So far, the Injens look to be the nicest design, with polished aluminum piping and heatshields very similar to OEM.

I've only had my 2008 G for about two months and I'm new to modifying Infinities, so please bare with me.

I'm used to doing things like this intake on a Mustang where the dealership doesn't care. How does Infiniti act towards minor mods like this? If you do it, should you take it off before going in for warranty work, or will they know anway because of the computer?

Thanks

Mike

If you take it off, they won't notice. In my case, the dealers I've been to never cared... at all. If you're still concerned, just take the intake off, and reset the ecu by plugging off the battery over night.

Thanks

I just wanted to make sure they weren't extra sensitive about mods.

you can make your own home depot heat shield if you want.....its just up to you to make it look good....

the heat shield keeps engine heat away from the air filter, cooler air = more hp
