Coupe Midpipe on a sedan...

I have a 08 sedan (XS) and want to swap the OEM midpipe with the coupe midpipe. My mechanic doesn’t seem to know if the mod is possible. I have been reading a lot on these forums how everyone's modded their G sedan...so my question is-
1. Is this mod still possible on a 08 G?
2. Can I use any midpipe or is there any specific one?
3. Will there be any installation issues or is the coupe midpipe a perfect fit?
4. Is the coupe midpipe also called a 'Sedan High Flow midpipe'?
5. How much time does it take for the install?
6. Anybody knows mechanics in NJ (central preferably), that are reliable and know the mod?

Please advice.

I think you talking about the 06 or older. They did this mod for sure. Sounds meaner.

Idk why you would even do this to an XS dude....i put a coupe midpipe on my 05 sedan, and i barely noticed a difference, it probably wasn't even worth it, go for some real **** like high flow cats, stillen exhaust, to buy it and install the midpipe is gonna cost slightly over 100 bucks for what a bit more drone? its your car, do you

Truth be told... Im very satisfied with the stock power.... so the only reson I wanted this mod was to get that deeper tone... especially when on idle... i had the coupe before and I just loved the tone, i just want my sedan to do that.

so the question is, given I dont NEED the extra HP's, is there anything else I can do to deepen the tone(exhaust) or do have to get an entire high flow system to achive that . what do you suggest?

that mod wont work on your sedan, only up till 03-06

If you want a deeper tone get a exhaust piping done by a shop and get a set of CAI for the VQ and that should deepen your engine sound .

remove the rear mufflers from the axle. its a 10min job. just unbolt the rear mufflers. I gurantee you will like the sound. Do a search. theres a clip somewhere here.

heyitsalex- thanx for the info, i shall sure check out the sound clip as soon as I'm outa my office... but generally speaking removing the mufflers is going to make the car scream like hell... I dont want the car to be too loud, just a little growl... just like the coupe is what I'm aiming for(love the growl on idle). Unfortunately, I thought the coupe midpipe solution was also workable on a 08 sedan ....

i bought the g37 coupe midpipe recently. I know it wont connect to stock mufflers. I'm going to check out if
1) it bolts on our stock y pipe. if it does, i will try a custom exhaust.

Umm from what i gather, i don't think there is much of a difference between our sedan and the coupes mid pipe the biggest difference in the system is the mufflers, I was at a show room and i was staring at the exhausts of all the cars since they reflected off the ground tiles I mean I can be 100% wrong but it seems like all our exhausts go

Header ->cats-> Y pipe-> back to dual resonators, then it depends on the model, Sedans 2 mufflers and coupe single muffler. ETC. I looked at the EX and FX they both have the same layout too but i can't remember the mufflers.
The only difference it seems between the systems is how long they are. But thats just unofficial counting of tiles lol.

Damn Clement, how bored were you?

OP, if you only want a deeper tone then one option is switching out the mufflers with aftermarket. Or you could get an axle-back setup such as the Tanabe.

I agree that the g37 midpipe probally wouldn't make much of a difference in terms of volume. However, I think it does sounds deeper than our stock midpipes. I plan on adding aftermarket rear mufflers on, which will make the system louder. Not sure which ones to go with yet.

BTW, if have the midpipe and rear mufflers, is $250 a good price to have it welded and installed?
