Engine Cutout on Hard Acceleration

Hi all. 2007 G35x automatic that has periodic engine cutout on hard, drop the hammer acceleration. It will only do that once and awhile and I thought maybe uneven pavement/wheels catching air was the prob. Not true. Was taking care of dusting someone the other night on perfect pavement and there it was again-a momentary loss of power/engine cutout much like an rpm or engine governor kicked in. Dlr says likely a software problem (reprogram ECU?). Your input appreciated.

that's your VDC (traction control) kicking in. it's preventing your tires from spinning.

But it most often happens when I am up around 40-50mph (on downshift?) and continue to punch it...

I only experience this when im taking a turn hard and VDC kicks in. I dont experience this when im briskly accelerating on a straight road.

Did you experience this on a turn or on a straight away?

Or maybe I dont often mash it. I tend to accelerate quickly rather than flat out flooring it.

ColoXMan - That doesn't sound normal to me.
I have never felt the engine cut out at 40-50mph, on dry pavement, when flooring it. It just launches!
I have felt the VDC kick in on hard turns or when starting from a stop and the road is a little slippery.
Have you tried the same scenario with your VDC off?

is it on auto or are you downshifting yourself?

When you get on the throttle, you dont want to "mash" it.

You want to east on to it quickly.

Oh, think you're describing something different. If you accelerate from a stop or low speed to 40 - 50, and when you get there you feel a stall, don't know the answer.

If you're going 40 or 50, punch it, and feel a hesitation (especially while manu-shifting), that's normal. The G apparently doesn't like full throttle and a downshift at the same time - I've learned to downshift then punch it.

I know that my VDC will definitely kick in on the 1-2 shift depending on the street I'm on. That's around 40mph.

But, you're is an X, I don't know what the problem would be.

Are you in regular D or shifting manually? What's happening sounds like either VDC or the rev limiter.

The VDC kicks in on my X on the 1-2 shift quite often. Its actually quite annoying. If I know that I'm going to be WOT, I'll turn off the VDC.

I dont know if this is releveant or not, but my 04 coupe, which is a 6mt, with vdc turned on gets loss of power when i really take off, it will chirp second at 40mph, cut power, then give it back, turn off vdc and you won't have that problem.

Be careful in a rwd G35 with VDC off though. I scared the crap out of myself once on the 1-2 shift. The car went sideways a bit at 40mph. That was going straight too (just a slick road).

How?

In a straight line, I've never experienced that, even in the rain (doing stupid things I probably shouldn't be doing).

Do you have a VB upgrade on your tranny?

Dude, this is actually happened today. I used tip-tronic on automatic, and VDC is off trying to down shift and beat the traffic on the highway. Upon of pushing down the acceleration pedal...guess what...it lost power...it scared the crap out of me.

I think I might had gone over the RPM limits? I'm not too techie guy but that is kind of stupid.
