HFC vs. Res test pipe - Audible difference?

Probably going with the FI catback and entertaining the idea of getting either an HFC or a resonated pipe and wondering how much louder the resonated pipe will be. Main objective is just saving a little bit of cash.

I don't the exhaust any louder inside the car than it has to be, main reason with going with the FI at this point and regardless of which one I get, I'll probably wrap it.

yes, test pipes are louder and have much more potential for rasp.

If you really want to save some $$, just do the cat back for now. You may be already satisfied with the results.

I love your FI system and the videos you put up.... but I'm just a tad hesitant to put up $1200 for a catback, tho I believe it's worth it. I'm half tempted to get some FI HFCs and the X-pipe muffler below and let my exhaust shop run me some 2.25" tubing to the stock mufflers.

That would probably cost me $700 total (rather than the $1800 for catback and HFCs) and I'd have a lot left for wheels and stuff. I was thinking of the res test pipes but if they can be a little raspier, then maybe not.

maybe i'll add 2 of these in lieu of the stock mufflers on back.

that one magnaflow x muffler with the 2 add'l magnaflows in back is about $400 and then the shop i get a lot of work done will put it all together for probably $100. Of course, I'd be a little worried about the sound, seeing that the FI sounds so good, I'd pray this would somewhere close. For half the price, I'd consider taking the chance.

Magnaflow has a history of high flowing mufflers with a mellow exhaust note. I think it would be a good combo (and save you some cash).

No cats= more drone, more rasp, and more smell.

No cats = more power and noise. On an NA car, a test pipe probably isn't worth much. If you ever run boosted, test pipes for sure. The turbine and housing do a great job of rasp removal
