Hi all. Been driving my G for about a week now and I'm having trouble figuring this one out.

I keep getting an audbile warning when I turn off the car and open my door. It's not that the lights are on (although that did happen once ).

It APPEARS that what is happening is that if you open the door before the steering wheel lifts up (on the auto exit setting) that the car beeps at you and stops moving the steering wheel until you close the door to let it finish. I haven't been able to confirm this though.

So I decided to turn off that feature as my wheel is at almost full height anyway and it still gives me the same warning.

I turned it off via the Nav screen 'comfort and convenience' setting so I'll probably try the memory button version just to make sure it went through but has anyone else expereinced this?

Am I right about why the car is signaling something?

Usually it's because you're opening the door before the G is switched off, so the G thinks you're "leaving the keys in the ignition." Mine does it all the time, because I open the door and hit the start button at pretty much the same time.

 

So do you close the door again to turn the beeping off or do you just ignore it?

It is soooo annoying. Never had this in my M and I don't think I could get used to it. Just have to sit and extra second before getting out of the car I guess.

Just dont open your door before the car is completely shut off and you wont hear the beeps. But just in case you do, the beeping will terminate as soon as the steering wheel locks into place which is as soon as you close the door. Not a big deal at all.
