From: Waltham Ma,
Tanabe Exhaust.

Anyone have this or heard it. I have had them on all my cars but one, 350Z, heavlier modded eclipse and EVO8. My last car a had Nismo cat back on my 04 Max SE( Just traded out). I know there quality is A++ and the sound is very good. Just seeing if anyone went this route. I probally will go this way just for the "nosie" factory. There systems are quiet unless your at WOT. Boston PD are??

I was going to get it but didn't because the tips looked "off-center" but its just the bad angle in the pictures. I ended up going fast intentions + hfc because it was only a few hundred dollars more...i think 700 is pretty expensive for just mufflers

I know jus tthe rear section but maybe that means the rest of the stock exhaust is free flowing enough. I know on MY GTI I only had to replace the downpipe to get STG 2 software installed andn that bump the hp from 200-285 and the TRQ from 207 to 330. The rest of the system was fine. I would love to see a stock dyno and then with exhaust to accuall see what the gains
are. I bet they are not that high maybe 6-10whp. In that case 700 for a throaty sound is worth it.. Way better than 1200..

Well, with the GTI I think you were able to see those kinda gains because it is a turbo car...on most turbo cars, all you have to do is get a downpipe and turn the boost up and blam you got mad hp...

On NA cars, it's not that easy. The gains realized from HFC's are about 6whp and the gains realized from a full cat-back system is 9whp...combined it yielded around 11whp from what the previous owner of my header-back system was telling me

As far as the stock system goes...it is VERY restrictive. Not only are there counter-weights in two different parts, the piping is tiny compared to the piping on the FI exhaust system.

I was in your shoes about 4 months ago...with serious contemplation over these mufflers...I would've still gotten them if the Tanabe rep would have told me sooner that the tips were not "off-center"...I think tanabe makes wonderful systems and if the sound is what you're going for, by all means pick these up now...however, they will not yield you any HP IMO

If you're thinking about getting atune later down the road you definitley would want upgrade your entire catback to something less restrictive like FI X pipe or Borla H pipe and then you can truley see after the tune how the benificial these exhausts are.

Were did you see it for $575 hell I would get that and have a X pipe fab of like $250. You'd be in have a full cat back for less than $900.
