Transmission Questions...Need Answers
So I have owned my car for about a year and 7 months, and somehow I am on my 3rd transmission
...I dont drive the car that hard and dont know why it has had so many problems...I have 19,000 miles on the car and have been worried because I can tell that it is starting to act shady...
I am wondering that if it does go out again, then can I get the dealer to do a 5AT swap to a 6MT???
I am really not wanting the transmission to keep breaking because it is a pain in the ***...Im only 17 years old, so of course the dealer thinks im some idiot kid who is a street racer, though it doesnt help my situation with all of the mods that I have done to the Car...
So, is there a way to get the dealer to do a 5AT swap to a 6MT swap with out charging me???
Thanks ahead of time,
Chris Cary

the 5AT to 6MT is more than just swapping mechanical components. You need to replace the ECU as well. Read up on the Lemon Law rules for Oklahoma. What is the tranny doing that requires replacement? Now might be a good time to trade for the new G37 sedan.
it just always shifts at weird times...is there any chance that it isnt tuned right??like after i put the high flow cats in its shifting just shifted way to early

I'm leaning toward the ECU too. I heard there is a new ECU flash the dealers do to the transmission, try a search for it. In my experience the service department at the dealership you are more than likely going to isn't up to date on some of this stuff.
If you’re on Ur 3rd gear box I would involve Infiniti corp.
They tend to be better then the dealers
I would write a letter, send it out. Wait 2 weeks then call them.
A letter is a record and it gets filed. A phone call can be "interpreted"
Request that u want an extended warranty on the car because they have not fixed the problem.
Also look into the laws in your state. There are some states that have laws that come into play when a dealer can't solve a problem after 3-5 attempts to fix it.
Keep all the records of when the problem first came up and all the attempts the dealer did to fix it.
You are correct in saying that the dealer might brush you off based on your age. I mean you really can't blame them for thinking Ur just a punk kid the beats on the car, as u said your 17 and have mods.
The only real way to over come that is to stay professional. even though it might be really frustrating, as soon as you start acting a little pissed off and raising ur voice, they will rite you off as a punk.
Be calm but firm. This is where Infiniti corp. can help because they will talk to you over the phone and not see you and Ur age at first.
It’s probably going to be an uphill battle.
Just politely remind them that you thought you were buying a premium brand car and you expect premium service and respect.
Good luck.

I don't understand...
Besides the fact that you keep hammering the fact that you are only 17 everytime you post on this board, how could you have had the car for 1yr and 7 months already?????
Are you telling me that you are allowed to drive at 15 in Oklahoma?
And if so what do you do that allows you to afford a G35 at 15????
And yeah, about the gear box being changed 3 times, it sounds like ECU to me too, my RAV4's ECU went one time and the shifting was all over the map, until eventually the car died on me and the transmission wouldn't even engage...I could have sworn it was the transmission, but when the dealer called they said that it was the ECU (thank god) and that was alot cheaper to replace.
Good luck
