Weird exhaust/engine noise

So recently I have noticed that under moderate acceleration there is a hissing like sound coming from the engine and or exhaust. The best way to describe this is almost like a tamed BOV purge or an exhaust leak. But this is only heard between about 3500-4500 rpm. Anymore or less and it is not present. Could this just be normal and is the sound of the exhaust at that rpm range?

I took the car to the dealer a year ago to address this (what I thought was a problem) and was told it was normal stock sound.

Yeah I have that, and it's really loud with HFCs, sounds like it's coming from the flex joint. I'm guessing it's where the noise can escape from. It's just at a specific rpm.

Well i guess that is good to know that this is normal and i am not the only oine to have experienced this. Although it is not when i lift off the pedal as it is an auto and only occurs on the 1st to 2nd upshift.

Especially in D.
I love the hissing sound.
Sounds sick when you have an exhaust.

i have just installed headers, Res Test pipes, and y-pipe on the stock muffler and i get that hissing now also. i am 6MT so right around 3000rpm or when shifting it gives me a pssssshhh. i thought there was a leak from the test pipe flange or in vaccum lines but i guess now reading this thread it is normal. mine is really loud.

with HFC's and larger piping on the Y-pipe it really makes the sound louder.

It's the resonators in the exhaust. I don't notice it as much after 13K miles, was louder when the car was new.
