Question Trouble with AT. help!

Having g35x v36/2007 year. Something wrong with my 5AT. manual mode turns into D-mode by it self and doesn't want to turn on again (moving shifter to D and back to Ds) until turning off/on the car. wheel switches still work, but like in D mode. no errors on my dashboard (no check engine or AT check). figured out that it only happens when the trany is rather cold (e.g. after standing on parking mode for 15 minutes). and it doesn't happen when I drive rather fast and the AT is warm. didn't have such problem in winter (-15 Celsius, now it's about +5 Celsius). 45000km/28000 miles.

Any Ideas? will be very thankfull for help because I'm from russia and the local service is not enough confident in such problems.
Hope I explained the problem correctly and understandable.

Seems like a common problem as stated on other threads, you can search and find many threads and posts on it, basically its something wrong with the shift switch which is covered under warranty and needs to go to the dealer under powertrain warranty which you should still have. whats you mileage?

how many kilometers on the car?
When was the last time you changed transmission fluid?
did you check the fluid level?
Did you check battery output voltage when car is shut off?

45000km/28000 miles on my car.
fluid level is OK. have never changed my fluid yet, but going to do this soon. I have no ruff shifts oк hits in the transmission. battery voltage is also ok.

kool_yaar, thanks. i'll try to search through the forum.
by the way. what are the warranty terms in America? Here we have 3years or 100000km on the whole car (powertrain, suspension, etc) then it ends and nothing is covered under warranty.

The warranty here is as follows:
4-year/60,000-mile Basic coverage
5-year/50,000-mile Emission Control coverage
6-year/70,000-mile Powertrain coverage
7-year/unlimited-mileage Corrosion coverage

So tranny is 6yr/70k which is very good

Please keep us posted and if they replace the switch, can you please post the part numbers from the work order for those of us that are out of warranty...

Thanks.

they did smth with some copper plate that presses the switch and it started working ok. so I think there will be no need of changing the switch itself.
here are the partnumbers
34950M SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID & PARK SWITCH ASSY - 34950-EH10A (the control box on the switch)
34902 DEVICE ASSY-TRANSMISSION CONTROL - 34901-JK700 (the hole switch)

No idea about the copper plate; could be to improve electrical contact/functionality of the M-mode switch referred to in the fault description: http://www.ismcentral.com/DTC/dtc_P1...modeswitch.pdf

good luck

EDIT: byw, you should be aware that this is in the 2nd gen sedan section. You may have better responses over in the appropriate 1st gen sedan section.
