Exclamation Differential Fluid

So I was getting my oil changed recently at Valvoline and as we all know they have a checklist of what needs to be looked at and what not. The guy comes out and tell me that everything is alright but because I have 40K miles that my differential fluid needs to be drained and replaced. He said that if I agree they would change it and if the fluid was good I would still have to pay. I am sure there is no other way to find out except to drain it and look. Anyone have any idea on how often or when it should be done? A few people told me that most of the time its lifetime and wouldn't have to be done. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

West houston reccomends 60k. i asked when i got my 30k service. they said quote "we have been in buisness for 20 years and have seen what mileage the fluid begins to break down. doing it at 30k is pointless."

Same goes for the coolant and belts as well.

60k is what it says in the manual.

some do 30k and even 15k. but anything passed 60k needs to be changed.
