Injen Intake Question
Injen Intake Question
Hi Guys,
Would an Injen cold air intake be a smart upgrade for my 07 G35?
How easy is it to install.
And the biggest question, what happens when I go thru puddles or water seeing as the cold air intake is low and to the front of the car?
Please let me know. Much appreciated!!!

Install is not too difficult, but you should be comfortable with this type of work. You'll need access to the front right corner to remove the washer fluid tank. Plan on pulling the front bumper or removing the fender liner for easier installation.
There is a slight chance of hydro lock with the Injen CAI, but there are filter covers that can be purchased that are water resistant and help to avoid this issue with splashing of puddles. Go 2 feet deep and you're SOL, but you shouldn't be in water that dep anyway.

Thanks AesonVirus!!! Very good info. I have seen a few videos on youtube of it being done and I really think I'll be ok. I was just wondering if anyone, like yourself, had any tips or anything.
I noticed with your "signature" you have a pretty f'n sweet suped up ride, including Injen. Did you also do this job yourself???

There are a total of 16 bolts and 6 plastic clips holding the bumper.
You don't need to remove or loosen the radiator cover.
All you need is a 10mm socket wrench, a flat head screw driver and a socket extension.
8 bolts on the bottom (Marked A)

Then there are 6 clips holding the bumper to the radiator cover. remove those with a flat head screwdriver

Turn the steering wheel to either side and remove 1 plastic clip on the wheel well lining to access the bolts inside. Once you pull back the lining you will need to use a long extension to remove two 10mm bolts. Do the same for both sides (Marked A)

Once that is done, there are 2 more bolts holding the bumper, 1 on each side.
you will need to pull up the rubber seal on the side of the engine bay to access a 10mm bolt as shown below. You will need to use an extension here too. the first pic shows the location of the bolt behind the rubber seal. you don't need to remove the seal, just pull it back until you can stick your wrench in there. (Marked 1)

Anyhow, I also recommend spray painting the metal mounting piece supplied for the washer reservoir to prevent rusting. Other than that, it's a pretty straight forward install.

I've done everything myself... except for my springs. I just didn't have the time and patience to do the job.
I paid $300- to have them installed and after talking to the guy that did the job for me, I'm glad I paid someone.
It's a PITA.
I see you're a local.
Check out the regional section for upcoming meets.
