Gen 3 will offer more bang for the buck but require a bit more skill on the installation side.
The Gen 2 is a breeze for anyone to install.

the 2nd gen is much eaiser to install and easy to clean and no concerns of hydro locking but the 3rd gen offers more gains and awsome loud engine tone but diffcult to clean and there is higher chance of hydro locking.... ( hydrolocking where water can go inside the engine intakes)

I got this mail from the shop I want to buy from...

"Yes we can get you that Air Intake GEN 3,it will normaly take 2 weeks to deliver items from Stillen,Although im expecting more power & much better Throttle response with short ram intakes (GEN 2),As having Dual Throttle on a V6 3.5L Engine and having 2 Long Pipes acting as a cold air suction will drop the throttle responsiveness as Air needs to travel a long distance from the filter to the intake manifold and im geussing the air density and air Charge Temp you are getting from Gen.3 is higher than Gen.2 in contrast with what Stillen claims which is not what you are looking to gain power,we have tested Long Ram Intakes and they Normaly don't work on NA ( Naturaly Aspirated ) Engines as the engine need to suck the Air but it does work on Forced Inducted Engines ( Turbocharged or Supercharged ) as the air is blown to the engine not sucked therefore it travels faster

Do you guys agree ?

Gen 3 will give you the most gains of the two, but with more involved installation/long-term maintenance. I have Gen 3s on my 2010 G37 sedan and really like them.

-----------------

g35oman, eh, no need to really get that technical. If you look at the Stillen Gen 3s, they space out the o2 sensors quite far from the air stream. That's their little trick. While it works, it's not the best, most ideal method.

-----------------

OP, also research the R2c intakes.

I have not heard any complaints from Gen3 owners. I think most of the Gen3 intake gains are at the very top of the rpm range...otherwise it is very similar to Gen2.

I still prefer the look and sound of the Injen Long Tubes.
I know I'm the minority on this thought however.

In order to hydrolock, you would have to submerge the filter. With the high placement of the gen3 filter, you are in no more danger than the factory filter setup.

I guess its hard to notice hp/torque gains ..the sound of the intake makes the driver feels his car is faster and response fast !!

I have the Injen SRI and I'm super happy with it.
Adding in the fact that it's 40% cheaper and performance is damn near identical to any other intake, go for the short ram intake and save your dough for other mods.

The sound is incredible

+1 on the Injen SRI.

And it does sound good, IMHO. Here's a vid of mine on the dyno. You can somewhat hear it running through the gears, but wait till it goes WOT.

And one in-car with little WOT's here and there.

And(!) my recently updated review of it here.
