It has always been like this since i bought the car i believe. Or at least the past 6 months. When the car is cold it downshifts pretty hard. From 2nd to first when coming to almost a complete stop..the car will lurch forward a good amount. The first stop you make you have to come to slow down very very slowly if you don't want it to lurch...but after 15 min of driving it almost all of that lurching goes away. Also when it's cold and you go and doing a rolling stop at a stop sign and go and hit gas as you are rolling..it lurches a good amount. Again only when car isn't really warmed up yet. When it's warm it's almost non existent.
ATF fluid still has a red/pinkish tint to it and isn't burnt at all. Just annoying is all. Would a grounding kit solve some of this?

Someone said from another thread earlier that their dealership person told them that was normal in the beginning until the fluid warms up in the transmission. Apparently, the fluid is supposed to be pretty rough when its not in operating temperature and gets more smooth from a little bit of driving. Sorry, I don't have any definite answers but maybe if you changed your fluid. Not sure how many miles since your last change.

hey Anton, a grounding kit can't hurt....it may help resolve some issues, but it's not really possible to say for sure. i will say that my tranny, whether warm or cold, has been exhibiting odd behavior. sometimes it will shift quite rough and i don't know why. i still need the software update performed, which im hoping to do in a couple weeks.

If the response of the tranny is being affected by a matter of temp or time, it is most likely a mechanical issue. If this is the case, extra grounding will not fix the problem.

Would be kinda nice to find out that it's causing my vibration issues as well..but it doesn't feel like a tranny vibration as in the whole cabin isn't shaking or shuddering like at 40 mph
Question to you guys..may be a stupid one...does the tranny fluid in these cars heat up when you warm the car up for say 3-5 min? Or does it warm up faster when changing gears down the road

This does sound like a mechanical issue if your fluid is full and in good shape. I usually suggest Red Line synthetic fluid swap since it's not effected by heat but I'm not sure that's your answer....
You might what to discuss your issue with a reliable trans shop.

The only fluid i will put in is the Matic-S..don't trust anything else as i have heard putting other brands in cause it to have a rough shift Originally Posted by gary c

You need to drive it to warm up the fluid. Idling in your driveway does nothing.Originally Posted by Anton_Chigurh

You can also use Amsoil ATF, many people here in Vegas, including myself used it and had to issues. No rough shifting or anything, and I got it cheaper. Amsoil ATF meets or exceeds the requirements for matic J and S.Originally Posted by Anton_Chigurh

I was just wondering if anyone found it cheaper out there. I know Ebay has 12 qts for about 110Originally Posted by vqsmile
