A little while back i got my 2007 g35x serviced by the dealer. The "Service Engine Soon" light was on and the service writer said that the codes were for 'Exhaust timing and intake timing.' The service writer informed me that he would recommend getting a 'ecm reprogramming' done as the first step just in case it would solve the problem, if it didn't i would have to come back and get the car fixed. Well the service engine light came back on within two days.

My question is before i go back and potentially be overcharged by the dealer, giving the codes that were found, about how much am i looking at to fix the problem and is it a problem that another decent auto mechanic could possibly fix for a cheaper fee?

Check around the forum for simple (not always) code solutions, and if your tied up in money take your car to Nissan for cheaper maintenance. Other forum members see savings at 30% or less there.
