DIY oil change questions for the 07 G?
Hey everyone. Ive had a couple questions on this. Such as, how hard is the process? What kind of oil do you guys use? and most important what kind and size oil filter? I heard this car takes 6qts? This true? Also does anyone actually go long durations on there synthetic oil? Im talking 10k+? If so do you change the filter at any point or just leave it? Sorry for all the Q's but im not used all this tech in the car and i want to make sure i dont mess anything up. Thanks...

Few things .... even if you use synthetic, you may want to stick to Infiniti's oil change intervals to make sure your warranty remains intact (and this is not an optional item)
So the most you can go between oil&filter changes is 7.5K miles if you qualify for the non-severe maintenance.
Car takes 5 1/8 Qt with filter change (see owner's manual).
Technology in the car wouldn't impact oil change intervals -- which is for the most part a mechanical thing (we better not get oil on the electronics )

+1. Oil change on rwd is easy - worst part is removing the plastic air deflector (about 12 screws and a few plastic buttons hold it in place). Just follow the instructions in the owner's manual. Using fossil oil at 1K and 4K until 7500k when I will probably switch to pseudosynthetic oil (Mob 1) every 7500 mi.
Note that there is a rubber boot or disk around the top of the oil filler neck just below the fill cap, it appears to be there to prevent missed oil from pouring down the outside of the filler neck and direct the oil into the filler neck. I found dirt/sand sitting on this rubber boot, just waiting to fall into the engine when I removed the filler cap. Seems like a bad idea. My first "mod" was to remove this boot so dirt cannot collect around the filler cap and fall into the engine. Just use a funnel.
