07 g35s 6mt - removed resonators

Do you want your G to sound like a 350z - remove the stock resonators. I love the sound and it only costs $150 and took 30 minutes to complete at my local muffler shop. Another added benifit besides the great sound is the resonators that were removed weighted almost 25lbs,wow! I think nissan should offer this setup for the enthusiats with manuals it makes for a much more exilirating driving expierence, I also love to see the heads turn when reving the motor at stop lights. All I can say is Awesome and it only costs $150. Sorry for no sound clip yet, stay tuned.

THIS THREAD IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT CLIPS!

i did do this on my 05 maxima...it didnt do much to the sound at all, it changed it very slightly. After that i welded a set of greddy style sp2 mufflers on my car and added a custom enterprise Y pipe on. It made the car so slow it was unbelieveable. The car would barely spin off the line. You have to becarefull with these motors. Though backpressure is no good, some are needed.

yes please post some videos. sometimes if you remove the resonators on certain cars, it starts to sound very raspy.

Until I'm proven otherwise (by audio clips) I will continue to believe that is sounds like a fart can exhaust with a hole in the muffler....

Sound clips would be awesome. I don't think most average people that buy the enthusiast would want that loud of a car. It is afterall a LUXURY sports car so bet Nissan was trying to keep the car somewhat civilized.

I know asking for sound clips is already a lot but having sound clips of a drive by is also crucial. The sound differences of reving and driving can be vastly different!

If you can it would be great if you were able to do both!

im gonna be honost, from my experience with the max i dont think there is going to be that much of a sound difference. At like 3k rpms it gave me a slight almost G sound to the car but barely anything seriously. Maybe this car is diferent so post some clips!

Hey logik... we both came from the org so I know your car...

This car is night and day from the Max though. The Maxima had that big-*** resonator under it and the piping was different. You'd get better sound from the intake and mufflers than messing around with the resonator... although people that changed to straight pipe would complain that it was unbearable at 60mph too, so to each their own.

I'm looking at this thread with interest though... I'd also like a deeper tone without messing around with the exhaust all that much.

In addition to the clips, a good dyno run might be a good idea as well... you never know if there's a significant loss of backpressure and the car is ******* now because of that.

yea whats up your name does look a little familiar. Yea the maxima resonator was tremendous. I never seen the G's but i just assumed it wasnt to diff. Honestly like i said the sound wasnt too diff at all, even at 60 I could barely tell. The exhuast however was unbearable lol. Intake pound for pound was the best sound mod for that car, or almost any car that is.

But yes id be interested in this as well, Id like to hear it, and def see some dynos.

Hi guys... Although I'm in looking to get into a G37 Coupe, I've been checking out what 07 G35 Sedan owners have been saying.

I just want to comment about the "resonatorectomy". It really is a nice and inexpesive way to add a moderate deeper sound but not like a "fart can" and it has no drone. Many S2000 owners have done the "resonatorectomy' and it was to their liking, including mine (I have an 05 S2000).

Everyone has their own idea of "loud" and "annoying." How about someone posting some clips???

Before I did the resonatorectomy, I was hesitant since I didn't hear it first. Realizing that it is completely reversible, I took a chance and had it done. If the resonatorectomy in the G results similar to that of the S2000, you won't be disappointed. Simply a bit deeper and louder than stock when the RPMs climb. I don't think a sound clip of the S2000 will help you guys since it is a different engine.
As for any loss of performance, my S2000 didn't experience any at all. Many others with S2000s who did the resonatorectomy also reported good sound with no performance loss. Just fyi.
When I get my G37 Coupe in a few months, I plan on doing it.

Oh, I should mention... if you plan doing the resonatorectomy, if the resonators on the G are held up by a hanger, you may want to have the pipe that is welded in also hung with a hanger at the same spot. The muffler guys simply weld it on along with the new pipe.

Why would it cost $150? Can you please be more specific?

Well they would have to cut the resonators out, cut some pipe to fit, and weld it in there. $150 sounds reasonable.
