Cool Thoughts on - 10K Xenon HID Conversion Kit Crystal Blue

All - Not that familiar when it comes to th headlights on our cars. I cam across these on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/10000...0415QQtcZphoto

I'm thinking this would be wayyyyy to bright! Looking for a possible upgrade from what I have now. Thoughts?

Don't do it...You will lose visibility...Go search threads on what 6k,8k 10k means first and make your decision on what you learn.

I only found one thread in the lighting section. Some one did say you would lose visibility. Question. Who the heck is buying these things then? Are there any upgrades to the '07 G35 Sedans lights (besides the LED; have them already)?

People buy them just for looks and some don't know any better when it comes to functionality.

Gotcha. I even saw 12k. Rediculous! I believe I have 4300k in their now. Would probably only go up to 6k, if I change at all.

There is a huge misconception that the higher the kelvin rating, the more light. Its actually inverse proportional. The higher the kelvin rating (8000K, 10000K) , the less 'lumens' . Lumens is total light output. The OEM capsules you have right now are 4300K, which offers the best light output. The best balance between light output and color, is 6000K. 6000K looks very nice and the amount of output loss is not too excessive. Another thing, LED's have nothing to do with your projector. The LED's are the rings in your taillights. The projector is Bi-Xenon and is both your low beam and your high beam, 1 bulb per headlight. So I suggest you get yourself a pair of D2S (for Projectors) 6000K bulbs and call it a day. Make sure you dont purchase D2R, as that capsule bulb is for reflector housings, your 07 Sedan has projectors.

how much do these bulbs cost usually, and can you put in non-xenon bulbs?

Go on ebay and search, you need a pair of D2S bulbs. The best is Philips, but they are on the expensive side since they are OEM quality.

Thats what you need...

Halogen is 100% inferior technology to HID. No one in their right mind would downgrade to halogen when our cars come with HID's stock. And no, you cannot put halogen bulbs in a xenon headlight housing.

What about the one from http//www.hid-lights.com? Why are the D2S's so much less here than on the eBay sight? They seem to be the same. Thoughts?

some folks would disagree with that statement. there are studies demonstrating the light from halogen as being less irritating and more revealing of contrast differences in the field of vision vs HID.

I do find HID to glare more, and to be less effective in the rain, but i still prefer HID for its sharper cutoff (unless you have a really amazing reflector and I've seen halogen reflectors that rival HID projectors).

i upgraded mine to 8000K..

and yes you do lose visibility..

also the one u show on ebay is a complete kit.. in your case, you just need the bulbs (HID bulbs) to do the "upgrade"..

10k is a nice color but honestly, i went 8000 because i think that anything above is just overkill.. just my .2cents =)

the word "upgrade" is clearly a misnomer here...

it's a "conversion"
