Adding components and sub to factory HU

Who have successfully added component speakers and a sub to the factory Head Unit of the 07 g35? How hard was it? I have the base audio system. I want to add some front components and a sub, but not certain how to go about it.

How big are the components you plan to add in front? I know the SOW has 10" speakers in the front doors. Does the base model have the same openings and just uses smaller speakers, or are the openings only big enough for 6.5" ??

Tx

I have the G35S model but with the base audio system. I want to add 6.5" comps up front. I haven't removed the door panels yet. Not certain if the speaker opening is the same as the SOW.

Cool. Let me know.

On your other question of aftermarket components and sube from the base HU, I suggest you look here:

http://www.autosound2000.com/adaptor_products.htm

Look at the second one on the page:

FOUR CHANNEL OEM TO AFTERMARKET STEREO ADAPTER
NE-774V

Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Good find. I especially like the 9.5v signal output. now all i need to do is get cracking on removing the door panels to see how easy or not it will be to install coms comps in there.

Does the base system have tweeters in the pillars or in the doors?

Doors if my memory serves me correctly. Haven't been in the car since Sunday. tweeeter covers are huge. I'm hoping the tweeters under them are not as big.

I'm hoping the woofer covers are huge as I'd love to get 8's or 10's in the doors if I could.

Did you ever take the panels off? Did you figure out what size components will fit? Thanks

Not yet. I think I'm going to have it professionally done. On second thoughts, I'd rather not deal with running wires. I'll bring it all to a reputable shop and have them install everything.

No problem. Just do me a favor and ask the guy who installs it to tell you what size drivers ( i.e. how large) would fit in the woofer and tweeter compartments in the front doors.

Thanks and good luck. I hope that other part I linked you to works out.

there has been several people who have added a sub to their system, some SOW and some base... but you'll have to search to find some threads on it. they're scattered around in here. i think they just tapped into the rear speaker signal wire for a hi-input into the amp and then out to the new sub.
