Removing shift boot/surround
Removing shift boot/surround
I tried a couple times to lift up on the plastic surround that holds the boot to the console, but it didn't come up. I don't want to sound like a sis, but is that all we need to do to get the boot off, that being pull it up and off?
if you want to get the boot off, you will have to take off the whole surrounding portion that its attached too.
-Pull down on the boots plastic aluminum looking ring below the shift ****.
-put car in neutral
-pull the retaining clip off of the shift ****
-remove shift ****
-get a suitable tool to get underneath the piece of console surrounding the shifter
-pry it up from the front, then the sides
-pull the console peice up a few inches and pull out straight back out of the center dash portion
-unplug electrical connections and remove
now you can access the boot portion
hope it helped.....

Shift **** Removal
Were you able to get the shift **** and boot off. I've got a 6MT also and am wanting to replace the stock shift ****. Is it as simple as stabilizing the linkage and then just unscrewing the ****?
Thx!
