TPMS question.

I recently purchased a set of '07 OEM Journey wheels for winter backups to the stock S wheels, the new wheels do not have the TPMS sensors as the original owner kept them for himself. I am getting ready to install them later this week as temps have begun to hit 40° at night and I have a question regarding the TPMS:
After I re-install the stock 18's in the spring time do I need to re-register the sensors with the car to clear the TPMS warning light or will it just be plug and play? I don't see why I would need to re-register since the same wheels will be going back in the same locations, however, I asked my local service department the other day and was told that there is a $50 fee for re-registering and that they must be re-registered, but I have a feeling that they could be biased.
What do you guys up north do?

no need ... they are already matched to the car.
Re-installing stock wheels will clear error light.

I just put a set of 17's on for winter. I didn't buy the TPMS sensors, but I am not getting the warning light on my dash. I have driven the car over 25km/hr required to engage the warning, but everything seems fine. Is the warning light showing up since you installed your rims without TPMS?
I run 18" all summer without TPS and the dash light is always on for the sensor which doesn't bother me.
Then I just reinstalled my OEM 17s with TPS for winter and the dash light goes out.
No need to recalibrate.

I agree - I couldn't care less if the light was on the whole time, but for some strange reason the light doesn't come on. I probably shouldn't complain, but wasn't sure if there is actualy something wrong with the car, since the light doesn't come on when I have no TPMS sensors in the aftermarket rims.

^ You might want to ask your dealer to take a look at that. If the light isn't coming on when the sensors are off the car, how can you be sure that they are working at all?
I just put my winters on for the season this past Monday and had this same issue. Initially I didn't get the TPMS warning light, but it finally came on yesterday evening (Wednesday) after 20-30 miles of driving at up to 80mph. I'm not sure why the vehicle took so long to identify the missing TMPS sensors, and now a bit concerned that it wouldn't identify a low-pressure situation on a wheel with the sensor in a timely manner.
