For Those With Bose

Where is the amp located? I'm curious of the same spot (if hidden) is available in the non-Bose car in which to bury an aftermarket amp. Thanks!

I think it is behind the carpet on the drivers side in the trunk... I *think*...

I'm pretty sure that I saw it today when I replaced the trunk liner in mine https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...=176795&page=3. It's mounted underneath the back dash, mounted in the trunk. To get to it you need to pull the 4 or 5 pins (depending on if you have a trunk cd changer or not) and remove the the top trunk liner (and potentially the cd changer).

^^Thanks. Since the premium package doesn't require the changer to be mounted in the trunk, I'm going to assume that there is enough room under the non-tech liner to house an amp as well.

I wouldn't make that assumption. The trunk cd changer models use a different trunk liner. Look at the link in my post referenced above...

OK. Maybe the amp is in a different location for non-tech vehicles?

I think you're right. I looked in the Audio, Visual, & Navigation System manual (Section AV, Oct 06 revision).

I do not see ANY separate amp listed for the "Base Audio without Navigation." The amp that is in my tech, under the back dash, in the trunk, [[the manual calls this the rear parcel shelf ]] does not appear in the diagrams.

If you are going to pull the trunk liner, be prepared to replace the plastic pins. Mine came out easily, but wouldn't go back in. I might have been able to push the tabs on the pins back in with pliers, but i didn't try...

Right. The BASE audio has no external amp, but I know that the Bose system definitely has one. I just don't know if the location is differnt if someone gets a car with the premium package, but not the tech package (i.e. without the in-trunk CD changer).

Sorry - misunderstood your question. I looked at the audio manual again. The diagrams have the bose amp in the same place for nav (trunk changer) and non-nav.
