1st Oil change.. and so forth?

I have 2500 miles on my G and was wondering when I should get my first oil change? and I guess this depends on what oil you use (synthetic or regular) but at what interval would you suggest changing? The manual says like 7500 and i don't trust that lil book..

If you don't trust the book, what are you going to trust when things go wrong?

I'm sure you don't trust the warranty information either?

I don't trust the book so that things don't go wrong....

Nah I don't trust the warranty info either like asked. I just take it to the dealer...

If the manual told you to jump off the bridge... I think you would jump.. Notice how this was not a question? LOL

Thanks for your sarcasm it was very helpful...

its different mileages for different levels of wear.

I'll be doing mine at 3,500 and using whatever oil the dealership uses.

Thanks I was thinking of doing it at 3500 as well. I got a free oil change when I got the car so I'll use it and switch to Synthetic on my 2nd oil change...

Every 3750 miles is what it says on my maintenance booklet, and that's when I took my car in for service. My second oil change was of course on 7500.

Do as what the book is tell you to. Otherwise the dealer may end up not honoring the factory warrenty. Just my 2c.

There's Schedule 1 that specifies 3750 mile oil changes and Schedule 2 that specifies 7500 mile oil changes. It gives a description of which schedule you should follow depending on your driving. Just follow the mfgs recommendations and you will be fine.

Wow...

What do you think the dealer follows when they carry out the warranty information?

No, I would not jump off the bridge if the manual told me to. What are you like 12? The manual has rules, warnings, tips, suggestions and other useful information about your car. It seems like you put too much trust on people, especially online. If everyone told you to go 10k miles as a joke, I wonder what you would've done. It seems you trust the dealer way too much as well.

right in the maintenance manual it says they can't void your warranty if you don't do what it says.

Why is everyone giving this guy flak about not wanting to follow the book?? I'd guess the manual also says always use genuine Nissan/Infiniti parts, so anyone who is modding is "wrong"??

I don't follow the book either, and change my oil every 3,000 miles using regular dino oil (Castrol 5-30). Overkill? Probably. Cheap peace of mind, considering that I drive in city traffic 95% of the time, and often drive the car hard? Definitely.

I use synthetic so I go 7500 miles. I learned real quickly that my service advisor isn't too bright. When I went to get my first oil change at 3500 miles (because there was regular oil and not synthetic), I brought in my own synthetic oil for them to use, she looks at me and asks "Whats the difference in synthetic oil and regular oil?".

Not a very comforting question to hear from your service advisor...

Although they can't void it, but you will need proper maintenance record for such thing as engine failure and so on. I've read something from G coupe forum that the person was denied of warrenty repair when he was not able to show dealer the maintenance records such as oil change. I think that was because he wasn't using "stealer" for the maintenance and did not keep the receipt for them.

It is just an idea, whether you follow or not, it is up to you. I'm certainly going to follow what the manual tells me to or at least keep all of my receipts down to the gasoline.

EDIT: I forgot to mention before, but I did change my oil first and second time 3750 and 7500 because they were free. I usually change my oil every 3000 miles with Mobile 1 Synthetic.
