A little help with Climate Control please ('08 G)

Hey guys, driving the G and the only thing that really "grinds my gears" about this car is how the AC turns on automatically when cycling through the vent modes (floor, defrost, head, head and floor, etc).

Is there a way to prevent the AC from coming on when i cycle through the modes(I believe it turns on once "defrost' has been selected)?
Is there some setting I overlooked when reading the manual?

It's not a big deal really, but I hate to turn my AC on and off so many times a day as I change my modes fairly frequently, especially in the winter.

Thanks guys!

yeah, i hate this too,... when you cycle thru and the a/c turns on, just hit the a/c button to turn it off... i find it lame

i like my old manual selection better...

On a side note, does anyone know how much having the AC on really affects gas mileage?

it comes on because you cycle past the defroster. a/c helps evaporate the moisture that can form on the inside of your window. they make it come on automatically for people that might not know how to deFOG a window.

having the a/c affects it little to none. ever watch mythbusters? check it out for the rather interresting results.
